I'm an old snatchee from Atlantic due to cross-shard recruitment. And like other who've made the switch, I was a happier player because of it.

There's no reason to subdevide the small playerbase of UO. We all 'compete' for the same players. If a certain shard or guild is luring players away I suggest you make your own guild/community more interesting and attractive. Or better yet, join ours If a person joins another guild or shard it's because he hopes to find something there he lacks at the moment. Something to think about, not fret about

But like the rep told you, it's another thing to advertise in roleplaying locations as it might be confusing or break the roleplaying atmosphere in the area.

During one of my rare periods where I found the time to devote some time to BoC again I tried to perform a very specific 'Burgherlike/Quartermasterlike' task.

The idea was simple, I had a merchant Evinyatar who specialised in.....nothing, except bartering, wheeling and dealing.

At the time the plot next to the barracks was fitted out as a market and he set about in filling those vendors through RP means. He would contact local merchants and order large quantities of goods. He actively sought out other guilds and merchants to purchase goods not supplied within Cove, etc etc. The goal was simple: all goods had to be obtained through RP means and the person on the other side had to REALLY rp a citizen. Not some dumb alt that just roleplayed during the interaction. The goal was to create more RP, not simply to obtain items. The posibilities for RP are endless. Not simply in the pure 'merchant' area but also elsewhere as that type of 'merchant' usually gets involved in a wide variety of things and is often caught up in some kind of mad adventure or another.

As usual I have loads of ideas and thoughts on how to handle such a thing but no time to make them happen. If someone is willing to take up such a position and thinks I have more interesting stories to tell then pee-related ones feel free to pick my (little) brain.

Tyreal keeps throwing them and Qom and Shad keep knocking them straight out of the park!
