Dropping stuff in forges and polishing boots, glad I am remembered for the finer things in life!

Got back in game few days ago, although been revising for an exam a lot of this week so my time has been limited.

Been trying Sad

One site it was downloading at about 5kbps and fileplanet kept freezing after 40mbs or so of download.  Might leave it on overnight... but at 5kbps my new copy will have arrived in the post before it finishes! Wink

[EDIT] Okay just started the download again, ETA 9 hours providing it doesn't freeze in the same place as the other download site *Fingers crossed* [/EDIT]

Well it sure is nice to see a bunch of familiar friendly faces!  Really looking forward to getting back in-game!

Spent the day trying to find a method of paying for subscription without a credit card, looking all over the net for places to buy gametime from and whatnot, before realising that I could actually use my debit card.  Huzzah!  I reactivated my old account so I've now got my fingers crossed that if they still have my old account on file they'll still have my character data.

Whilst it would be refreshing to start off with a whole lot of empty character slots, I think I'd be very happy if all of my toons are still in place and I don't have to start from square one  Smiley

Next obstacle to tackle is getting hold of the game again.  I thought I still had the game installed (after a two year absence you can tell how often I clean-up my pc... Grin) but turns out it won't load and I don't have any of the CDs here at uni with me.  So now I'm just waiting for my £5 version of UO: 9th Age (9!) to arrive from play.com and I can get my backside to Cove.

So with any luck I'll bump into some of you in the next few days and we can share a few belated sessions of Boom Box!  I'll probably be kicking around on ICQ before then (me number is 44032056 I think  Huh ).

PS: Cheers for the crotch-grabbing montage Mela gave me a good chuckle!  Its things like that which make me realise what a mistake it was to ditch UO in the first place!  Wink

Best to insure anything that might be tempting for an unscrupulous opponent to pilfer if they knock you.

Plus its always fun getting a tidy sum dumped in your bank box whenever you knock someone that has lots of stuff insured Tongue

I am very guilty of what Kazuo is talking about, but i think of the boards as an extension of my in game character and i'd feel strange making posts as Smedly if i didn't use the accent and abbreviations that I use in game.

He isn't a guard, so I don't imagine him submitting reports as such on the civilian jobs board.  I try to imagine that he is recounting his events in conversation to someone he is sat with in the tavern, or to the Union leader or to whoever has logged onto the boards and happens to read the posts.

Yeah ditto.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can find bugger all on that useless EA help system, and can't find any shops (not even online) that sell the game in the UK Sad
10  In Character Boards / Old Events / Re: Auction Collection - Friday 9th December, 1730 GMT on: December 09, 2005, 07:38:30 pm
Th'auction collection has gotten off to a fine start indeed.  Twas a fine afternoon for such an occasion, I 'ad barely set up me stall b'fore folk from around Cove started approachin' me wi' antiques an' family heirlooms they no longer wanted.

I made me a note o' all th'folk tha' gave me items to sell in th'auction, an' at the end o' th'session I took all o' th'lots an' stored them in a safe place ready to be added to th'catalogue an' t'go on sale a' th'time o' th'auction.

[OOC] A BIG thank you to everyone that donated items to sell in the auction, it was truly much more than I could have hoped for.  Another session or two like that and we'll have gathered more than enough items to sell in the upcoming auction and turn your unwanted items into gold.

All items collected for the auction are stored safely at my house.  When the collection is complete I will compose a catalogue of all the items (including information about history of the piece, name of seller, whether it has a reserve or not) to give people an opporunity to browse before the auction and to place commission bids.

If you missed this auction collection, do not fret.  You are still welcome to ICQ me on 44032056 to arrange for me to pick up an item to sell on your behalf in the auction.

Thanks once again. [/OOC]

[OOC]  Sincere apologies but I am afraid this event will be cancelled this evening because I will be going to bed as soon as I get in from work.  I shall hold other auction collection sessions in the future, but remember if you have anything you'd like to donate then please contact me on ICQ: 44032056 Smiley [/OOC]

[Edit] After munching down on some Pro Plus at work I was buzzing and able to run this collection for the people that were online at the time.  Sorry for being so indecisive  Undecided [/Edit]
12  OOC Boards / OOC Board / Re: Need some advice on how to... on: December 09, 2005, 05:47:28 am
I dropped 100.0 anatomy in favour of 100.0 focus on my assassin template.  I am not much of a potion chugger, so found myself easily reduced to zero stamina in a fight, so focus real useful for keeping your stamina high as well as regernerating your mana for fancy moves.

I usually rely on poison spamming to do the damage in combat, so the extra damage from anatomy is not all that important to me.  Was used to using deadly poison when i created this template, though greater poison works pretty well cos its level up to deadly strikes provided your poison skill is high enough.
13  In Character Boards / In Character Board / Recruitin' in th'enemy territory! on: December 08, 2005, 10:55:00 am
After weeks o' stayin' up late sewin' t'gether th'biggest banner I e'er did see, I decided this mornin'd be th'perfect time t'set me plan into motion.  I rolled up th'massive piece o' cloth, tied it t'me packhorse an' set off t'wards Yew in th'wee hours o' the mornin' when most folk be asleep.

I arrived a' th'outside walls o' th'Yew Abbey, keepin' me eyes peeled for any o' them Yewish guard folk.  Th'coast were pretty clear, so I pulled out a grapplin' hook an' tossed it up t'wards th'roof o' th'Abbey.  After a couple o' tries I got th'bugger t'catch.

Hobbits ain't th'greatest o' climbers, bu' me packhorse gave me a helpin' hand by nuzzlin' me up th'wall a bit an' I managed to scramble meself up th'rest o' th'way without fallin' once!  I made a bit o' a racket kickin' me way up th'wall so I quickly winched up me resources from me packhorse b'fore any o' them monk folk decided t'come outside an' see wha' were goin' on.

It were a righ' nice view from up there on th'Abbey, bu' wi' the sunrisin' I 'ad t'work fast wi' me plan b'fore folk woke up.  I unpacked th'banner an' began rollin' it across th'roof o' th'Abbey.

I flattened out th'edges o' th'banner, lay down some lanterns so it could be seen from miles off an' then placed a backpack full o' recruitment posters all o'er th'floor.  Wi' me work finished I stood back an' admired the view o' th'sun risin' an' chuckled a' the thought o' all them fat Yewish guards tryin' t'climb th'roof when thems saw th'banner in th'mornin'!

I scrambled down th'same way I came up an' headed off t'Britain bank, th'busiest place in all o' Sosaria, t'provide a gate for folk t'come see th'banner an' read about our glorious town.

For Cove!!

Where: The Folk Tale House, Cove
When: 5:30pm GMT, Friday 9th December 2005
What to bring: Any items you would like to enter into the upcoming auction.

This Friday I'll be startin' th'collection for th'upcoming auction.  I shall be settin' up a stall outside th'Folk Tale House, all ye have t'do if you want t'enter an item is to hand it o'er t'me with details o' what it is an' any reserve prices ye want set.  I shall then add th'items to th'other lots in a secure location like an' get it added to th'catalogue.

I 'eard Mister Valentine is leadin' an expedition to investigate a possible new outpost for ye militia folk at six o'clock, but nay worry 'bout missin' tha' 'cause th'collection will only last fifteen minutes or so.

*Signed*  Smedly Herbwood

[OOC] This will be the first of a few Auction Collections I shall be running to give people an opportunity to donate items in game (for those not aware of the auction please read the "Upcoming Auction:" thread on the In Character board). If you are donating an item with a background story, please could you submit it to me with a book containing the story.  I would love to listen to and chat about the history of the item in game with Smedly, but this would lead to me over-running into Vince's event by a couple of hours Wink

Thank you in advance to anyone that donates a piece Smiley [/OOC]
