After a short delay finally some people arrive for my basic combat training. Todays topic was battle preperation.

First we did go through all kind of drugs helpfull potions to boots the abilities of our soldiers. While the taste of the potions wasn't too good the effect on the other hand was great.



The small demonstration about fast and slow weapon fighting didn't go too well. I failed to fully convince the audience of the different ways to handle weapons. Maybe at another training with a bit more evened out fighters this works better.

Pah! I did never say I charge for a general training session! I only charge 500 coins for personal ones. There some old Veteran wants to make a living and everything thinks he's a bloody thief ?!

Gantoris sighed and walked towards the barracks again to find a place to sleep. At least the had a roof over the head now but his pockets were still empty.

A toaster you say ....mhhhm. I will think abut it.

As no one showed up at my announced training session I decided to aid Watchman Bayne in his task to clear Cove of the rats.

Making a little patrol through the city I finally found the biggest and most mean cat possible. After a few basic training units with a ball of wool we came to the basics of rat chasing.

Teaching the cat the use of various potions to increase it's combat powers also a short bola demonstration followed. Rats can be fast little buggers.



Well prepared I did send the cat out to begin the task to clear Cove of rats, wearing a brand new collar reading "Covian Destroyercat".

After the success of this first ultimate rat catcher training I plan to do some more to keep Cove clear of rats.

I would like to do some kind of quiz show basically. It takes quite some time to prepare it proper so people have fun and I could need some help there.

Basically I would like to have someone for the designing/decorating the location and another one to help me hosting the show (like in most shows a good eyecatcher would be great, so get out yer female char in out it into tight leather *grins*).

So well, I need two people, one female if possible. Not necessary ooc female *chuckles*

After finishing my sentry duty I did make another round through the city. Suddenly a young woman did stop me. Obviously she was given an importent message from her master she should deliver to Vesper.
Obviously scared from the dangerous way through the woods and the unguarded road she asked me to escort her. As I nearly finished my round anyways I accepted this escort duty.



While the short way through the woods went smoothly the road did proof to be more dangerous then expected. We got ambushed several times, espacially closer to Vesper. The borders and roads were completely unguarded. Obviously the Vesperian guards still did reside in their Ilshenar hideout.



After a long and bloody path we finally arrived in Vesper. The nice young lady even did share a bit of her payment with me. She refused an escort back to Cove after delivering the message as she wanted to visit her aunt. So I returned allone.

After patrolling the city itself and finding it completely calm I did guard the gate a while.



Nothing special happened and only a few citizens left the city to collect lumber and other ressources.



Another calm afternoon in Cove. No sign of any loyalists or Yewmen.

Day 2:

I’m worried about this expedition. I don’t give too much on bad omens but the blood red sunrise this morning was odd. The sky looked like it would start to rain blood any time.
Our first way today was to the castle as ordered. Lord British and some of his advisors waited for us in the banquette hall. The usual formal good wishes for our journey were given and people that didn’t even know where we would go gave us good advices. Diplomats……

We finally left the castle and walked towards the stables. All was ready to depart. Beside me there were five other battle mages of the royal army, some archaeologists, scouts and about ten heavily armed soldiers. Some paladins would join us when arriving at the small camp in the newly discovered world. When my information is correct it’s called Lunas.

The way to the moongate was quite calm. It did take a while with all the material though. After getting to the other side with all our pack animals we found large wooden fort. The first fundaments for stone buildings were set up already. I have no doubt there will be a well fortified garrison here soon. Maybe already when we return from our expedition.

We decided to rest here at the fort as only a few hours of daylight were left. In the late evening hours the paladins that should accompany us arrived at the camp. They already scouted our path a bit.

Gantoris sat in front of another empty bottle. Again his pockets were empty. The little gold he earns as recruit was simply not enough. Especially not as the nightmares got worse and he spends his whole money for alcohol and some shade to find at least a little rest.

His hands weren’t calm enough to work as scribe anymore as he used to in the past. Neither he could work as alchemist again as too much time has passed and he forgot most of the things he once knew.

But he would need more gold. Thoughtfully he looked out of the window of the barracks. A few young soldiers were training with an officer. Watching them he finally got an idea how to earn some coins. He grabbed a parchment out of his scroll case and started to write an advertisement.

[Day 1:]

An old and partly ruined book lies on the table. Obviously someone forgot it in here after consuming all of the bottles of booze found beside it. As you open the book a few pages fall out already and you carefully put them into the book again.

There seems to be a name on the cover but you can’t read it anymore as the book is too ruined. There’s also a dragon’s head on it. As you open the book you wonder a bit about the strange writings. You did never see this language before. Even more surprises you the fact that you obviously understand it.

Day 1:

I did say goodbye to Nahema this morning. She wasn’t very happy about me leaving again as many times before. Once again I said she shouldn’t wait for me. Once again she just smiled a bit and waved.

We have finished our preparations today. The expedition should take at least several months if not even years. I tried to stock my reagent supplies as good as I could but I doubt it will be enough. I hope we find some supplies on our way. We have been called to the castle for tomorrow. Most likely the king wants to give us final instructions and wish us luck. This night I better spend here at the barracks and try to take a look over the maps again. I rarely find sleep on the day before these expeditions start anyways.

Gathering at the barracks a strange acting small man that called himself Tweeso explained the details of the expedition.



After restocking our resources the brave soldiers of Cove moved onto the ship to sail to foreign shores. Demonstrating their love for nature half of the crew did feed the fish with a friendly green face.
The gnome was an excellent sailor. He didn’t miss a single obstacle on the way. This did even increase the crew’s love for nature.
On half-way of our journey our soldiers did proof their knowledge of Britannia’s history by completely clueless examining the serpent pillar, another obstacle our captain did hit well.



Storming the foreign shores several gorillas were fought back bravely and a camp was built quite fast. The camp did serve well as base for our expeditions to the depths of the jungle.



The first chest we discovered was heavily guarded and quite some soldiers got hurt seriously. After mending the wounds the gnome started to plunder the chest. Even more monsters were lured by the sound of moving treasure.
The other chests we recovered did go smoothly and our soldiers took only little to no serious injuries from the chest guardians.




Finally our whole camp was filled with gold and treasures. As it was way too much for our ship already we did sort out the more valuable parts and moved the haul to our ship.



And so the brave soldiers of Cove left the hostile jungle with a huge pile of gold and other valuables. The way back to Cove went smoothly and this time our captain even tried to hit every possible shore and not only obstacles. A salute to such a thorough sailor.

On our way Corporal Joey boarded another ship that crossed our path. I’m pretty sure piracy is illegal but as no one was onboard the other ship it was technically a boat recovery action.

I could need one too for Gant. I always loose my patience doing sigs so I better outsource this time

After a short briefing from Junior Scout Jenifer Feather we left Cove towards the dungeon Despise.



Gathering at the dungeon entrance we waited for latecomers and prepared to advance into the depths of the mountain. After finally the last soldiers arrived we started our expedition.



After engaging a few Ettins at the entrance the resistance got a bit harder but after all the earth elementals guarding the passage towards the deeper levels of Despise were no threat for us.



Deeper inside the mountain a group of Trolls tried to ambush us but they were no match for the superior tactics and fighting skills of us Covians.



Making our way towards the more dangerous places of the dungeon we finally reached the headquarter of the local Ogre clan. After a short but bloody battle we stormed the island they occupied and planted the Covian flag on their remains.



Scouting the other branches of the mountain caves we did crush into quite a lot of Titans. Obviously we interrupted them at worshipping a strange crystal ball resting in a shrine so they instantly attacked us. The battle wasn’t too hard as we outnumbered the foul beasts and were able to encircle them.
After defeating the Titans we inspected their shrine but we couldn’t figure out what’s so special about it and so we decided to head on.



On our way back to the surface we stumbled into a strange Cave with a slimy green pond. Examining it closer revealed some Acid Elementals did live in this place. Only a few of them did dare to attack us to defend their pond and so we took them down quite fast. Another place secured in the name of the Covian army.



After securing the last part of the caves we headed back to Cove to secure our gathered treasures from the dungeon. And so another glorious expedition of the Covian Army ended.

Also I was bitten by a dog afterwards. Someone claimed it was a wolf I tried to pat. But I was sure it was a nice little dog.
