Promoted to Watchman after weeks of hardwork! Winner of the scribes pen medal something or other! Then I left unexpectedly!

Thought I'd pop in and say "Hello" and offer a brief explination of my sudden absence: I couldn't be assed. I gave up paying for UO and now play on the freeshard known as Divinity under Jonas Ancroft and Drachonis.

How's BoC doing?

*A Hastilly scribbled note and a few sketches*

In an attempt to secure one or two extra promotions
at tonight's ceremony, Officer Cadet Kal Soulshadow was
kind enough to hold a sentry at the barracks, a patrol and
a short training session during the evening's tournament.
Bellow are some sketches of the night's events, attended
by myself, Dalamar and Kyte..

Patrol of the Village of Cove: 13:30, Sunday, 19th March.

Led by: Jenifer Feather, Regular Scout
Attended by: Recruit Jonas Ancroft. and Olchafa Serpernt, Junior Scout.

With the recent murder in the lighthouse, Miss  Feather took myself and Olchaffa, to patrol the surrounding area and the docks in order to make sure that no "funny" business was happening around the town. Whilst miss Feather was inspecting the local buildings and the wall's permiter, I was ordered to look around the docks. I immediately saw something was wrong when a large ammount of men and women were loading crates onto a boat, without any sign of being authorized to do so. As I inquired to their business, I was set upon by one of the women. Though she was swiftly dispatched, her sacrifice had bought enough time for the ship to escape.

*A Notice is Pinned to a wall in a very clean Barracks*

Dalamar,

As you, and any other person who chooses to enter the Barracks
within the next few days will be sufficiently pleased with the state
of sanity to which I have cleaned the halls. Each tabletop, desk
and object has been dusted, the lanterns re-lit, the statues and
braziers polished and the flours have been wiped.

Recruit Jonas Ancroft.

9  In Character Boards / In Character Board / A Sentry and Patrol [Report] on: March 17, 2006, 07:25:52 pm
Extracted from the daily journals of Jonas William Ancroft..
The 2nd of June, 356.

In an attempt to fill both mine and watchman Salidin's quota for promotion, self proclaimed combat champion and Junior Dragoon, Vincent Redfield, ordered us to accompany him in both a patrol of the graveyard, and the construction of a sentry post in Altmere. We were joined by a lively Watchman named Seamus. Vince marched us slowly towards the graveyard, which, to the surprise of everyone in the group, was severely packed, more so than usual. The various semi-transparent ghouls and ghosts rallied around the rotting corpse of a lich as their leader, whilst clattering skeletons and foul smelling zombies provided mere cannon fodder for our experienced weapons. We slowly battered our way through the mass of undead and approached the large stone crypt, whilst I observed the stone monument in the center of the room.

I had observed many crypts in the many graveyards I have visited, though this one was different, perhaps unique. Though the room was dusty, there was no trace of the usual spiderwebs, nor was there any sign that the undead inhabitants had disturbed the small room at all. Vince, Seamus and myself looked over the grave whilst Salidin guarded the doorway with his crossbow. I noticed that there was a thick layer of dust covering the slabs under which, I was told, the body of an old noble of you named Sanct Damien was buried. Remembering a rumour I had heard from an apprentice necromancer in the Barnacle Tavern of Minoc, that the dust taken from the grave of a famous person would have be more effective than the dust taken from the grave of an "ordinary man". I had always assumed that each man possessed his own amazing qualities, and that no person was ordinary. so there would be no different varieties of Grave dust, but I pocketed a vial-full in any case.

As we fought our way out of the graveyard once again, this time heading north towards the guardpost  in Altmere. Other than one or two gargantuan beasts such as ettins and ogres and the occasional giant spider, we encountered no oppressive force along the way. At last, as lunchtime approached, we had reached Altmere, and in turn, the outpost. The four of us, excluding Vince, had used our combined strength to haul several piles of fortification boxes across the countryside, which were now being slowly set up and reinforced with the animal hides of the local creature populace. A small barricade was set up around the perimeter and two chairs were placed in a shady place under a tree. Myself and my fellow watchmen took up our weapons and places at the entrances and started to keep watch.

After lunch and various conversations, our log book only showed the original construction of the outpost, and the purging of several wolves that had taken up residence inside the garrison. I was barely awake and starting to get bored, when the sun moved into its one o'clock shadow and a large stone structure appeared towards the north-east, near the mountains. Out of curiosity, I pretended I had spotted movement at the foot of the mountains and, as I had presumed, was given the immediate order to scout it out. Accompanied by Seamus, I approached the building slowly and inspected it. It immediately caught my interest, and I made a mental note of its location in co-ordination to the mountain should I wish to check back. We both returned to the sentry, which was packing up and ready to return to cove.

After a quick briefing we were dismissed from the barracks, I chipped some kindling from a nearby tree and headed off into. Another night amongst the local wildlife would be a relaxing experience.

Overview:

Vincent Redfield led myself, Salidin and Seamus on both a patrol of the shire and to a sentry in Altmere. For the benefit of our temporary administrators, I have included a link to Vincent Redfields profile, which requires one "led patrol" and one "led sentry" added to it, and also to Salidin's, Seamus's and my profile, all of which need one "attended patrol" and one "attended sentry" added to them respectively.

The 62nd of May, 356
*

It is near the end of May, and the warm weather is beginning to return to Cove. I have returned, at last, from my journey, and into my warm, militia bunk. This morning, however, I was awoken, to my annoyance, by regular highlander Kurt, for an immediate training session. Myself and watchwoman Yue Yan were rallied at once to the roof of the Barracks. Line up, bend over, show us your bandies, arm weapon, disarm weapon - the usual training session. I found the jogging difficult, having just returned from such a long journey, my legs still ached and I didn't have the energy to run around the paddock and the barracks umpteen times. I slumped, barely able to stand upright, back into bed before I summoned, once again, to the barracks.

I lined up alongside my fellow recruit, a fencer named James Shadowbane. Junior Guardsman Dalamar instructed us to arm our weapons and led us to the nearby orc fort. Though I did not visit the fort as a child, in my short time as a recruit I had gotten used to approaching the large palisade walls that covered most of the southern section of the island, and today was no different. We walked forward slowly, and, to our surprise, were ambushed by several orcs, including a mage, archer and chopper. Though they were swiftly dispatched, it gave us an insight into the developing army of orcs, they were now planning, without combat skills we decided that it was nothing to worry about, though I could not help shake off the feeling that they were tooling up for something more than random attacks on straying travellers.

The three of us returned to Cove, bruised and battered but victorious. Our loot divided equally amongst our small group, a little under one thousand coins. Dismissed from our line, I headed back to the main village to purchase more bandages and food, but stopped along the way. Outside of the gate, a dirty looking, half naked man with a wispy lock of hair. He was shouting about the dog alongside him that he was selling. I quickly counted the gold in my pack and walked towards the man...

11  In Character Boards / Character Profiles / Jonas Ancroft on: March 12, 2006, 12:11:13 pm
Jonas Ancroft - A Short Description.

Young, eager-looking and sturdy, Jonas is the typical guardsman of the Baron's militia. His narrow face is tarnished only by a small arrowhead of a goatee, dark oak coloured like his mane of hair. He is in his early-twenties and of average height and weight - his appearance is very common in this day and age.

His eyes, hazel and slightly slanted, stand out from his facial features - clean shaven cheeks and smaller than normal nose and mouth. He has a great aura of arrogance around him, though it does not show in his behaviour.

Pretty much, but it's an important notice.

I reckon this is a great way to encourage non-organized (i.e. Not just showing up for events) role-play!

Thanks for the compliments. Cheesy

And, I sure am aiming for the Light Company!
