To The Covian Barracks

From Medical Personel In Training Carolin Kazami

On the eve of 15/10/18 I tended to medical needs of one Leanne Melior. The details are provided below.

Injury: Loss of pinky and ring finger on her left hand. Method of sustaining the injury is unknown. Information was not shared by the patient.
The patient appeared to have stitched her own wounds shut in a rather hasty form of first aid. Patient complained of pain and occasional bleeding through the hasty stitching.

Care Given: Recleaning of wound, administration of painkillers, and medically searing of the wound with heat.
The decision to medically sear the patient's wounds shut was not hastily decided upon. This method was ultimately chosen by myself and the patient due to her active lifestyle and current duties in the military. This method not only ensured the wounds would not reopen due to said lifestyle and duties, but would also enable her to return to active duty with little to no complications. The patient was given a curative potion to prevent infection and a painkilling potion to take a sip of each hour to avoid discomfort during the first few days after the treatment.

8  In Character Boards / In Character Board / Incident Report and Patient Report 25/8/18 on: August 26, 2018, 01:17:44 pm
Delivered to the Barracks in the early morning, done in neat handwriting.

On the eve of 25/8/18, Covian soldiers came under attack by unknown assailants. Avalynn Vale and Kyle Dewulf both sustained injuries while defending themselves from said assailants. The assailants attacked from the shadows and used poisons. I discovered the two after hearing sounds of combat from outside the Inn. I quickly stabilized them and got them back to the Inn for further treatment. Please inquire with Kyle and Avalynn regarding the attacks as I did not witness the attacks first hand.

Medical Report: Kyle Dewulf
Injuries: Major laceration to the right bicep, heavy bruising on various parts of the body
Treatment Rendered: Cleaning and Stitching of the Bicep wound. Healing balm applied to the heaviest of bruised areas.
Recommendations: A day's worth of light duty should be all that's required for Kyle assuming that he sips the healing potion I provided for him as instructed.
Possible Complications: Minor scarring at most

Medical Report: Avalynn Vale
Injuries: Extreme Laceration and Necrotization of Surrounding Tissues to her Right Leg due to poisoned injury, significant blood loss.
Treatment Rendered: Avalynn was capable of purging the poisons herself, but the damage was already done. She has a hole in her leg about the size of an acorn. The wound is especially close to her artery. After taking much time to clean the wound, I set about removing the dead tissues. This was an extremely delicate process given my lack of higher medical knowledge. Thankfully, the dead tissues all appeared black in nature. Whatever poisons they used, were extremely nasty. I shudder to think what may have been Avalynn's fate if they had managed to hit the artery and get this poison to her heart. After removing the dead tissues, I applied healing potion directly to the wound as well as had Avalynn ingest a greater potion. This quickly stabilized the wound, allowing me to sew it shut.
Recommendations: Immediate reevaluation of the rendered treatments and injuries by one Marcus Kobra. No less than 5 full days of bed rest or immediate application of healing magics by local Arcanists. Bed rest is to be accompanied by ingestion of 1 Greater Healing Potion each day as well as the sipping of a lesser cure potion every few hours.
Possible Complications: If Avalynn does not keep weight off her injured leg until the restorative properties of the potions given to her has the chance heal the hole in her flesh, she risks reopening the wound and possibly breaching her leg's artery. This could lead to loss of the leg entirely, if not bleeding out within minutes.

9  In Character Boards / In Character Board / Doctor Apprenticeship First Patient Report on: August 21, 2018, 04:59:34 am
Submitted in neat handwriting to the barracks

Today I got demonstrate to Marcus some of my medical knowledge. In the event anyone reads this, I should start off with my background to set the context I suppose.

Last week I expressed my interest to Marcus in learning more healing techniques. This was apparently well timed as Marcus was looking for a new apprentice to pass his extensive medical knowledge on to. Though I am civilian, Marcus was happy to find someone to begin sharing and shaping to be a doctor. Much of my knowledge is admittedly techniques I learned while having to survive on Altmere's streets in my early years.

Today, I was able to demonstrate my ability to apply first aide in the form of cleaning and sewing up wounds as well as provide emotional support to a patient. Kelly Sanderson was badly wounded during a weapon's test. During which, she suffered 16 shrapnel wounds, major bruising, and isolated burns. I took on the task of cleaning and closing the shrapnel wounds after Marcus removed said bits. Most of the shrapnel wounds were small and required simple bandaging after cleaning. However, 7 of them required stitches. After I finished, I moved onto providing emotional support to Kelly as Marcus tended to wounds I'm not experienced enough yet to take care of. During this, I attempted to give Kelly some alcohol to ease the pain. Thankfully, Marcus was quick enough to stop me as the alcohol would have reacted badly with the sedatives he had already given Kelly. So, I can safely say I learned as a Doctor, our decisions and carelessness can bring a patient's life to an end as quickly as any wound. I'm rather thankful I learned this now, rather than after having killed someone.

After we completed our treatments of Sanderson's wounds, we moved her to the barracks via a stretcher and promptly deposited her safely into a bed. Marcus left Sanderson some kind of elixirs to take over several days. I presume they'll help her heal faster. Marcus seemed impressed with my performance given my lack of formal training. I hope he'll begin actual lessons soon. I would very much like to be able to help my fellow Covians in the future. It's not right for Marcus to be the only one to shoulder that burden.

Dear Tingleith,

I only recently heard of your stationing in Nujel'm. I read in the Gazette where you had ended up. I'll admit, I had wondered where you were for the last several days. Things just haven't been the same without you around. Well, I hope you are in good health and the men under your command at the outpost respect your authority. You'll have to share tales of your adventures if when you return to Cove.

Your Friend,
Carolin Argon

To M'lord Baron Octiovus Von Richter,

I write to inform you of a guest within the borders of your glorious Cove. One Gretel Hobbes, Baroness of Britain comes seeking an audience with you. She arrived late last night to my Inn, the Cardinal Feather Inn. Though the Inn is not yet open to everyone, I am providing a room for her at present until she has the opportunity to speak with you, or until I am told to remove her. At your leisure my M'Lord.

Thank the Avatar for Baron Octiovus Von Richter. May his reign be long and just.

Humbly yours,
Carolin Argon

15  In Character Boards / Character Profiles / Carolin Argon on: July 30, 2018, 02:07:34 pm
Name: Carolin Argon
Age: 24
Eye Color: Sapphire Blue
Hair: Red, not like a red head orangeish. But actually red. It's her natural hair color, so stop asking her how she dyed it that way. Seriously, it annoys her.
Race: Human
Height 5'4"
Slim Frame
Pale, blemishless and unscared skin
Carolin has a natural beauty to her usually reserved for nobles or tales from legend.
She wears a simple iron chain necklace around her neck that has a small ankh hanging from it.

Born in East Altmere to Katherine and Jeremiah Argon. To say Carolin's childhood was rough, would be understating it. Her father died when the mine he was working in collapsed. With few options, Katherine did the best she could to provide for her and young Carolin. Katherine would spend most of Carolin's early years nearly working herself to death to provide for the family doing all manner of jobs. Until she caught the eye of a local crime lord and was forced to become one of his women of the night. Carolin and Katherine's lives would be a bit easier for a few years, until sickness took Katherine's life. Sickness passed on by her new profession.
At the age of 10, Carolin was alone on Altmere's streets. She'd spend the next several years surviving any way she could. Stealing of coin and food when she had to, and doing what few odd jobs people were willing to give the daughter of Altmere's most famous/infamous  whore. As she aged though, the natural beauty of her Argon genes began to show through, slowly making her life easier. She never once followed in her mother's footsteps, though she seemed to constantly bump into offers by her mother's old "customers".
In the year before she moved to Cove, Carolin had found employment at a small tavern in Altmere and found her calling. Barmaid seemed to suit her really well and she had a natural nack for it. Having finally had enough of Altmere, her mother's reputation that Carolin seemed never to get away from, and just wanting start anew, Carolin began setting aside what gold she could here and there to barter passage to Cove proper and begin her new life. Hopefully in a tavern of her own someday.
