1  OOC Boards / OOC Board / An update from the wiki on: August 16, 2008, 08:34:53 pm
Here comes the brief, regularly update from the MoongatesWiki community project:

So far, we've been able to keep up with storing most recent Ye Sosarian Morning Poste-issues, and with the bigger community events, such as the Olympics and the Border Wars.  We have been able to establish a good number of articles related to old CoY and Yew-centred guilds.  There is a lot of things missing related to CoRE (The Republic of Vesper, Britannia Guards, the Duchy of Trinsic, the Elven Guild and the Royal Marksmen Regiment are examples) and especially to ERPA.  We are also very short on character biographies, especially those who have played central parts in the community over the years.

This should give you an idea of what we are missing.  Contributing it very easy, and all you need to do is create your own account.  From now on, all contributions must be authenticated (that is, you need an account), to avoid spam bots.

I've been speaking with various people, such as Henry Lumbard and Devnet/Waterfay, who both are big contributors to the in-game book lore on Europa, and a future project will be to implement a system for "digitalizing" books.  This way, we can use the wiki to preserve the IC book lore as well.

Next to this, we need volunteers to maintain the Bagball League's section.  Aiden of Grd ran the first bagball tournament at the King's Stadium in Yew, but we haven't got the results in yet.

That's it for now, and I hope you will donate some of your time and energy to preserving the role-playing history and lore of Europa!

I'd like to encourage you all to contribute to the MoongatesWiki as well, a community project of documenting the role-playing legacy on Europa.  You will find the wiki here:

We could use a lot more information on Cove-related issues.  The current articles we have about Cove are rather short and missing a lot of essential information:

There's an interesting discussion going on over at UOForums which I should hope would be of interest to most:

http://www.uoforums.com/showthread.php?p=317676

I personally think it's a hypothetical discussion, but it would nontheless be valuable to get more input from more role-players. The essence of the discussion is, on the other hand, extremely important.

Best regards,

Edmund

That said don't forget your RL commitments. A balance between Gaming Life and RL is very rewarding

The RP community always slows down a few times a year, this is noting new.  What's new is that there are less players about generally speaking.  There's no better (nor easier) solution to this than to simply recruit more people on Europa into the RP community.  We have always had a tendency of recruiting amongst ourselves.  I think it's important to keep a look out for new, potential, role-players.

Best wishes,

Edmund

At the moment the Britannia Guards holds Minoc.  There has been several small BoC/KH/-V- attacks on Minoc.  The royalists has also attacked several small patrols and scouts from Cove.

The core of the conflict around Minoc is that everyone wants to hold it, for numerous reasons.  The City of Minoc holds an important role in Britannia as the industrial capital of the north with its resource-rich mines and mountains surrounding it.  From a royalistic point of view, Minoc is an important crown city of the Kingdom and gives the royalists a good base and presence in the north.

I can imagine the free people of the north wanting it for the precise same reasons:  land, resources and preventing a royalist presence in the north.

For more updates on the Minoc situation, feel free to both read and post in this thread:

I haven't read the entire thread yet, but I can say that there is something in planning by the GMs of BOC, Grd and LB.  So far I've been very impressed with the north and things are starting to happening.  We already have a plot going in-game with Yew pushing their way through to Minoc.  We're trying to build on that, so all ideas are welcome.  Hopefully more guilds will also be involved when it takes off.

Cheers,
