1  In Character Boards / Character Profiles / Raivon Yasta on: October 23, 2006, 01:33:42 am
Raivon was born in Vesper and spend the first  20 years of his life there. His father, a retired mercenary of modest reputation ,was mostly relieved upon noticing Raivon's ever growing fascination and love  to alchemy;surely career of an alchemist would be  a safer and more comfortable way to make a living than that of a mercenary. Thus, Raivon's father was always fairly supportive towards his son's studies, and even helped him purchase and renew a long abandoned alchemy laboratory in the outskirts of Britain.

Soon after moving to Britain Raivon was introduced to Annie, a young and very driven alchemy student in search of a mentor. Only little more than an apprentice himself, Raivon managed to convince her they should open a tiny potion shop, work together and learn what they had to by trial and error. Two equally obsessed young alchemists would soon fall in love and marry. Even though fairly gifted at their craft a true success, commercial or otherwise, never came upon them. They both were equally driven and ambitious, and would almost always end up pursuing mixtures that were either utterly impossible to create at all, or at the very least far beyond their skills. Regardless, their love was true and life good. Years went by.

They would often make love in their own laboratory. Which was very natural for them, since they spend most of their time there and also loved the place almost as much as they loved each other.
On one fateful day, during such act, an elbow hit a burning lantern which fell on something it shouldn't have, and broke. A massive explosion followed and tore Annie apart, killing her immediately.
Whatever god or being had created Raivon was clearly a cruel one, for somehow he stayed alive. Physical and emotional trauma suffered  immediately proved to be too much for Raivon to take, and he turned quite insane. Now this ruined man is walking these lands more or less aimlessly, occasionally chasing his sanity, usually fleeing from it. Some days he's a bit better, on others much worse, never truly in touch with reality and in complete denial regarding what has happened to his wife.
Over the years following the accident  Raivon's  delusional mind has created fairly firm net of various complex routines that seem to keep him in fairly stable, even seemingly sane-ish   state most of the time.Almost any kind of exitement, surprises or unforseen stress are always enough to turn him extremely unpredictable though.

Raivon doesn't seem to be entirely aware of the amount of physical trauma he has suffered.
Right side  of his body was towards the explosion and suffered absolutely massive amount of damage. Somehow remnants  of his right eye are still in place, something that most having a good look at him hope wasn't the case. Where should be other side of his face is now a disgusting, moist  mixture of more or less infected tissue and dieing flesh. He wears something that reminds of a huge gorget on his neck. What's underneath it can't possibly be a pretty sight
Left side of his face is more or less intact. One might almost hope this wasn't the case, for it creates a disturbing, almost grotesque contrast.
Most of his right hand's palm and fingers are gone. Damaged, but somewhat functional thumb and index finger remain. Walking and running do cause Raivon pain but all in all moving doesn't cause major difficulties.
A worn and torn specially lined bag for potions is usually flung over his other shoulder. He is usually in the middle of a quiet, never ending mumbled monologue that almost sounds like a mantra.
Almost everyone tries to avoid Raivon the best they can, but he never is truly alone. In his mind, Raivon  is convinced Annie is very much alive and usually travelling on his side. If someone tried to question this very obvious delusion it is often simply ignored by Raivon, occasionally it makes him go to a shock or turn violent, even murderous.
