Charon Deschain's story is very different to his brothers'. His mother was murdered and his father was killed by a leviathan, but instead of humbly living his days in his home town of Serpents Hold, Charon moved away.

Charon loved his mother dearly, and he wanted to speak to her again. He clung onto the hope that one day he would speak to his mother again.
So he travelled to Umbra to learn how to speak to the diseased. Charon was a natural and one of the necromancers there, far less evil than the rest, recommended Charon join a secret organisation known as the Priests of Seance.
Charon joined, hoping he could communicate with his mother and father.
He spent many years perfecting the art of communicating with the dead but also studying holy writings and scriptures and even writing his own literature as well as factual books based on evidence he could find to support the existence of God and deities.
He became quite a wealthy man as a priest, and after 5 years of training, he was told by the Head Abbott of the Priest's of Seance monastary, he was capable of summoning a spirit, and speaking to it. Charon travelled to the grave of his mother in Britain and spoke with his mother.
Some say that when Charon's mind entered the spirit realm it was twisted by ghosts and the undead, for after speaking with his mother Charon became greedy and selfish. He no longer strived for purity and holiness, but for wealth and power. Being an intelligent man Charon saw a perfect opportunity to obtain both - Law.
And so Charon studied for three years to become a Lawyer, and then several years more to become an advocate, and now, after many successful cases, Charon is a rich man and a renowned lawyer throughout the land.
Charon is currently out of work, but seeks to find some, as a Lawyer in the town of Cove... who knows what will happen...

Report- 001 V.D

Mikaela's Recruit Cadre and Training Session
Cove Barracks.

This will be mine first report as a soldier of the Covian Army, I hope it satisfies thee.
At approximately 7:15pm the following good people of Cove assembled at the barracks roof:

Eve - Guardsman recruit

We began by enduring Mikaela's first recuit Cadre in line with her duties as watchman. Though perhaps tis out of line for a mere recruit like me to express mine humble, subjective opinion, I must admit, the recruit cadre went spledidly. Though it was noticed by myself, Recruit Rathus facing the wrong way, Recruit Rathus wielding the wrong parade arm, we must be forgiving to those who are not as familiar with war as the rest. Nevertheless, the cadre went excellently, and would have pleased the Avatar himself.
The cadre was witnessed by Vincent Redfield, who quite rightly chastised those who made any mistakes.
After the recruit cadre, Eve departed and t'was chance to do what I enjoy, fighting. Two teams were made, Team Veiko and Team Rathus and the teams did battle.
It seems the cohesive nature of Team Veiko led them to victory as the team had an agreed plan and stuck to it. I noticed myself, as one well versed in the art of fighting other humans, that Vincent Redfield is familiar with fighting humans too. As I myself muttered to my team, the plan of how to destroy Team Rathus, Vincent Redfield would say the exact thing I said (though he had not heard me say it first). My opinion was formed, that Vincent is a worthy fighter.
After Team Veiko demonstrated their class several times more and Team Rathus had a rest, dazed from being knocked unconcious so oft, Vincent decided to have mages versus the warriors, a 4 on 2 fight.
First round went to the mages, as the warriors, myself included, did not work cohesively. However, a change of tactics and a quick briefing and round 2 and 3 went to the warriors.
Vincent himself then craved violence, and participated also, taking the mages side. The warriors were all knocked unconcious quickly.
And finally, before I had to rest, for mine head was hurting somewhat badly from the energy bolts that Garak Nightchill was firing at me, the roster had a free for all.
My tactic was to weather the storm until the mages run low on their magical energies, and the warriors are already weak, but alas, everyone on the battlefield recognised me as a worthy opponent and as a gang, knocked me unconcious. By the time I awoke, t'was just Garak and Rathus left standing, Garak with no magical energy and Rathus with no skill.
Garak was chased around before his energies recovered and he shocked Rathus with some vicious energy bolts before Rathus screamed for mercy.

All in all a very good training session and a well organised event.

T'will do well for us all when it comes to the real thing.

Veiko Deschain is the younger brother of Charon and Maximus Deschain. Originally born in Britain, Veiko moved to Serpents Hold where his father was born, after his mother was murdered, though Veiko was always raised to believe she simply "packed up and left". Veiko was raised with his brothers in Serpents Hold where from an early age he became familiar with the sword, particularly the katana.
When Veiko was still a young boy, his father was killed at sea, combating the fearsome leviathan. At the time, Veiko made a vow, he would slay the leviathan if it was the last thing he did.
Veiko's brother Charon moved away to study the dark practice of Necromancy and Veiko has seen very little of him since. It is believed that Charon spends most of his time murdering, though this is not official.
Veiko spent the rest of his youth training to fight with his brother Maximus under the stern hand of Cort their guardian. Both brothers were extremely competetive and pushed each other to bring out the best. When Veiko was 16, he was already a strong, healthy young man and remembered the promise to his father.
Maximus had always been against the idea of travelling out to sea in pursuit of the leviathan but Veiko would not listen. One night, he took his father's heirloom valorite katana and took the long boat out to sea in search of the creature.
For weeks, the ship travelled in search of the leviathan, and supplies began to run dry. Veiko began to lose hope, until one night, when the seas were rough, the leviathan arose from the ocean.
Veiko battled hard with the creature that had slew his father. Hiding behind the side of the ship and tactically slashing at the creature, the battle lasted hours.
The leviathan's tentacles smashed into the mast of the ship, destroying the sail before actually climbing on the ship itself. The weight of the leviathan almost sunk the ship right there, but Veiko would not surrender. The 16 year old spat out the sea water from his mouth and made one final attempt to kill the creature, scoring a perfect strike to the eye, the blade going through the socket and into the brain... the leviathan was dead, but the ship was sinking.
Veiko grabbed a hold of a piece of the decking that was floating on the water, as he watched the ship sink to the bottom of the great Britannian sea.
Cold and sinking, Veiko quickly removed his platemail tunic in order to tread water.
Hours later and the tide had washed Veiko up on a remote island. He was carried from the beach by three sages and taken to their temple. The sages took care of the near-drowned Veiko and told him that it was the work of the Avatar who had saved him from the waves and who had given him the strength to slay the leviathan.
So written, they said, in the Codex of Ultimate Wisdom, Prayer 144:1, Blessed be the Avatar my strength, which teacheth my hands to war and my fingers to fight.
From this Veiko began to follow a spiritual path in the Way of the Avatar.
After spending several years on the island, an adventurer by the name of Rabid arrived, looking for food and supplies. He told the sages and Veiko, he was to pick up some fruit to last him on his trip back to the mainland. Veiko saw that his destiny was not on the island. He must return to his old life and continue his journey. So Veiko accompanied Rabid on the boat  back to the mainland. The boat docked at the town of Cove, where Veiko thanked Rabid for the safe passage back to the mainland, and set off in search of work to earn money for passage to Serpents Hold to find his brother Maximus.
Noticing the local barracks, Veiko took up a position as a guardsman in order to earn the gold he needed.
Several weeks into his new job and Veiko was out hunting orcs, little did he know his brother had arrived in Cove, searching for him. After returning from the patrol, Veiko was reunited with Maximus.
The first thing he said to his brother upon reunion was, "father hath been avenged my brother".

To this day, Veiko and Maximus now both serve as soliders for the Barony of Cove. They aspire to be the greatest soldiers in any army, and to be famous throughout Britannia as fearsome opponents.

But what of Charon?
