*A copy is sent to the Church and the Army*

My Lord Preceptor Hugo,

As thou art aware, Church and army forces assailed the dungeon Doom.  Many undead were slain, much gold and bones recovered.  Several sites of desecration were purged by fire.  Chaplain Deacon and Squire Grayson accompanied this holy expedition.  The Guardsmen were shown Umbra, it was made clear that such an unholy fate awaiteth Cove shouldst the Church fail.

We treked through the woods, slaying the gargoyles that assailed us.  In time, we reached the entrance to Doom.  We entered.  At the bottom, many foes awaited, but all were slain.  We found animated skeletons, zombies, ghouls, foul bats and liches.  We pressed on, putting all to the sword.  We encountered a room that flashed with light and darkness, separating half of us.  Eventually, we were reunited.  After further slaying, we retreated.  Alas, we took a wrong turn and three of us were assailed by an arch-creature of the Guardian that overcame us, casting us out.  We eventually reunited with the expedition, fighting out way to a portal leading out of the dungeon, Chaplain Deacon and mine own self guarding the way.

Regrouping in Cove, we discovered that much gold and daemon bones had been gained.  The Church coffers doth overflow with gold.  Praise unto Avatar!

In nomini Dominus,

Roland Dagorian

To the Templar Order and Priesthood,

I have been instructed to gather the names of our brothers and sisters still in Cove.  The Church stirreth and Avatar requireth His servants to gather.  Our strength shall be needed, our resolve tested.  Heresy shall be punished, the wicked smote.  The Church bells shall toll and the Faithful will answer.

Avatari Vult.

80  OOC Boards / OOC Board / Whats this about the new king being an elf??? on: January 21, 2009, 02:23:07 am
Um really?  Has this new elf king been slaying evil and earning a name for themself?  Or is it some brand new char OSI EA-Mythic pulled forth from their nether-regions and suddenly decided to make king without any real basis?

This must be a quandry for the Yewish, having served Britannia loyally for so many years, persecuting the elves etc only for one of them to suddenly become their king.

Also, although it's a Covian guild, most of the people congregate in the player housing just north of the actual city, in particular the Barracks and the tavern.

When: Sunday 30th August
Where: The ophidian lair, the Lost Lands

Led by: Vince Valentine, Grenadier Sergeant

Attended by:

Siegfried, Templar Preceptor
Roland Dagorian, Templi Initiate

Eve, Grenadier
Kelly Valentine, Guardsman

Kal ShadowHand, Scout
Delferium, Guardsman
Taybard Jaekal, Guardsman
Marcus Kobra, Guardsman
Torrak Keres, Guardsman

Sergeant Vince Valentine led the above mentioned Churchmen and Guardsmen on an expedition to the Lost Lands, to scout the land for a possible Covian base.  We travelled through the jungles and swamps, encountering a the foul ophidian race.

The battle went ill at first, with the expedition being overrun.  But we prevailed and revived the fallen.  We pressed on with more care and slew many snakes.  Further on we encountered teraphons and slew those foul spiders along with the snakes.

After a great battle we stormed the fort and ventured into it's depths.  There, we faced a Lord of the Abyss and sent it back to the Abyss to face it's foul master.  Having slaughtered snakes and spiders beyond counting, and at least two Abyss-lords, we returned to Cove.  Alas, the site is unsuitable for a Covian base but the Abyss hath been filled with the spawn of the Guardian.  Much gold was recovered.

85  In Character Boards / In Character Board / Re: Repose for the soul of Reynard Destain, Bishop of Cove on: August 24, 2008, 01:12:06 am
Father,

I have the sad duty to inform thee that foul murder hath befallen the Church.  Bishop Destain was struck down early this evening.  I came across the corpse myself.  He bore many wounds, a foul substance smeared near some of the wounds.  He had been stripped of his robe and looted of his belongings.  Of his staff there was nay sign.  Some of the wounds looked to be small, the others from a large weapon such as an axe or heavy sword.

Upon discovering the slain Bishop, I roused the guards from their carousing in the Barracks.  Alas, 'pon our return to the murder, near the hospital, the Bishop was gone.  I regret in my haste to report the death, the tide had washed the Bishop.  I left instructions that should he wash ashore, his body was to be recovered and returned to the Church.

I assure thee, Father, that nay effort shall be spared in hunting down the murderer or murderers.

Signed,

Roland Dagorian
Templi Initiate

86  In Character Boards / In Character Board / Repose for the soul of Reynard Destain, Bishop of Cove on: August 24, 2008, 12:57:39 am
Reynard Destain stared into the polished steel; the Bishop of Cove stared back.  Satisfied his appearance was suitable, he carefully walked down the steps into main hall of the church, his elderly legs throbbing sharply with gout.

With the slow patience of the old and infirm, he gradually reached the bottom, using his staff as a crutch.  The badge of his high office, the polished black wood was engraved with Domine dirige nos:  Lord lead us.  It had been a time of unsettling change, as Father Siegfried stamped his own authority on the Covian Chapter of the Avatarian Faith, the familiar church now filled with unfamiliar faces.  Reynard sat on a pew, lowering his head as if praying.

No stranger to church politics, Father Reynard had been considering severl ways of wresting back some of his authority from Siegfried, Hugo's replacement.  The Bishop was acutely aware of the uncompromising manner of the Templi; a delicate touch would be needed.  Sadly, his list of allies was short.  The faces were all new, other than Roland Dagorian.  But even there he suspected he would find scant support.  Already Templi Squire Roland Dagorian had been elevated to Templi Initiate Roland Dagorian.

Reynard heard the doors of the Church creep open, and soft footsteps hesitantly approach.  Looking up he espied a young woman sitting on a pew to his left, also praying.  Hiding his irritation at the interuption, Reynard approached her.

It all came spilling out.  The woman, it seemed, was new to the Avatarian Faith and wished to confess her sins.  They were many, and vile, she shamefully assured the stern-faced Bishop.  Eager for another convert to the Faith, Reynard advised the woman, Sally, to return the following day to confess her sins and be baptised in the name of the Lord, aumen.  She agreed, pathetically relieved.

The following day Sally returned to the Church and Reynard escorted her to the banks of the lake.

Well experienced in dredging forth the sins of others, Reynard had no trouble in convincing the woman to confess, and she revealed that she had murdered her father.  Appalled and saddened, Reynard goaded Sally on, to confess further.  And he was truly saddened.  For a sin such as patricide, there could be but one penance.  Death.

He heard a sound behind him, a harsh voice filled with dark promise proclaiming, "Hah, Be damned, Bishop.  You are at an End!"  Stunned, Reynard turned to see two masked men poised to attack.  Even as he prepared to summon the Light, to smite these sneaking assassins with the Lord's Righteous Wrath, they struck, brutally felling the Bishop with several blows and a foul poison.  Darkness surrounded him and the pain fell away...

The woman Reynard had known only as Sally expertly filched his belongings and slipped into the woods after her companions.  The corpse lay there, and the gulls swooped and wheeled above, eyeing the former Bishop as nothing more than fresh carrion.  Disturbed by the commotion, Friar Dagorian left the church and came across the slaughtered remains ...

As he ran to the barracks, the tide came in and surrounded the Bishop, bearing him up and out to sea, the freezing depths to be his final resting place.

87  In Character Boards / In Character Board / Church Training Report, 19th August on: August 23, 2008, 12:30:30 am
Training led by: Roland Dagorian, Templi Initiate

When: 19th August
Where: Barracks Roof

Attending:

Michael Vandrik, Templi Squire
Hoagie Grayner, Sergeant
Marcus Tel'Var, Guardsman
Torrak Keres, Guardsman
Taybard Jaekel, Guardsman
Kas Valentine, Arcanist

After introducing Friar Vandrik to the Guardsmen, Father Siegfried instructed me to lead those gathered in Training.  Immediately, I instructed the Friar and the Guardsmen to lay forth their bandages.  Satisfied they were all well supplied, I did instruct them in the manner of battle.  'Tis of great import that Friar Vandrik learn to fight as part of a group, protecting his fellows in battle and thusly protected in turn.

I chose to test Friar Vandrik's self-discipline by having the archer loose arrows at him, forcing him to rely upon his companion to shield him.  In battle, we will oft encounter wytchery.  I chose to inflict a sterner test upon the Friar, ordering the arcanist to cast his foul spells.  Friar Vandrik was knocked to the ground after some time, but I am satisfied all were enlightened as to the necessity for fighting as part of a company.

The Friar and the Guardsmen put the lessons to practice, as we fought several mock battles.  Satisfied the lessons were well learned, I called an end to the training.  Following the training, I led those assembled against the undead at the cemetery to ensure the training had been taken to heart.  A report chronologing the ensuing battle hath already been submitted.

Dominus illumination mea,

Roland Dagorian
Templi Initiate

Brother,

As thou hast doubtless learned, 'tis one thing to face the spawn of the Guardian in battle, and another to lead men in such a battle.  As a soldier of the Lord, thou wilt find thyself often leading the Guardsmen against all manner of creature.  Thy leadership was most satisfactory.

As thou hast learned, victory comes through discipline in battle.  The Recruit's actions were reckless and foolhardy.  The penances suggested by thyself and Friar Vandrik were most apt.
