1  OOC Boards / OOC Board / Bye for now on: September 25, 2006, 11:25:38 am
Hi,

For those of you who don't know, my wife and I had our first baby on September 10th. I had joined BoC a few days earlier. Unfortunately, the baby has proven to be too much work and incompatible with any serious online gaming. I have not been able to participate in any guild activities so far nor even go hunting now and then. So I think the only reasonable thing to do now is quit the game until I have enough time to play regularly and add something to the guild.

It's odd how I am saying goodbye and I didn't even get to meet 99% of the guild members! But this funny fact only assures me this is not the right place for me to play UO or any other game.

Thanks for the help and company, and I hope to see you soon!

Cruewell, humble recruit
2  In Character Boards / Character Profiles / Cruewell on: September 17, 2006, 03:45:04 pm
Age: 35
Hair: long, grey.
Beard: vandyke, grey.

Before Cruewell was known by such a name, he lived the life of an ambitious miner in Minoc. Happily married, his early success in mining soon obliterated his judgement and his healthy prosperity turned into uncontrolled greed. At some point, he was spending some 20 hours a day mining for precious ore. He neglected his beloving wife, even his own health, his body became grey from lack of sunlight and emaciated from exhaustion and lack of proper food. Things got so bad that other miners called him behind his back the "cave vampire".

One night, upon returning home from the mine, he found his wife dead and his precious earnings stolen. At first he was wild with rage, dumbfounded. Only after some time did this shocking experience make him realise he had unconsciosly wasted what should have been the center of his life: his wife, his health, his humble yet happy existence.

Torn appart by bitterness at his own blindness and by hatred to the thieves that had murdered his wife, he wanted to set off on a wild, bloody search for vengeance. Luckily, drunkeneness, self destruction, and finally a total loss of self esteem made his project impossible for him.

After several years of slowly and painfully reconstructing his life from the little pieces that were left after the chaos he had let himself fall into, Cruewell -he now began using this name- met a series of characters that taught him wisdom, patience, self respect, compassion and the use weapons and magic in case all else failed. By the time his unconscious training had ended, he realised he had become something akin to a paladin. The hatred in him had turned into a desire to help those in need, to be humble to the weak and firm towards the arrogant.

Now a man of 35 years of age, he has finally found inner balance. Having heard much praise about the Baron of Cove, and lacking a particular purpose in his life, he has decided to join the Baronship of Cove as a grenadier recruit.
