The Vesper Leg of Axiana's Jousting Tournament

Fraught with worry of the missing Covians, Axiana was finding it difficult to focus on the event that she had arranged with Mr De Blaze in Vesper.  Everyone was already milling about outside swaggers, when she arrived.  Mr De Blaze had set up ready for the joust, the Vesperian colours were glaring at her from the jousting area, and several stalls were set up, these included a funeral stall (for a Covian's impending death, no doubt!), a clothing stall and one consisting of a large quantity of alcohol.

Those participating formed an orderly line in front of Leanne to sign up (Please see Leanne's report for paintings).  Realizing that she had forgotten the lances for the joust, Axiana left Leanne to 'hold the fort' whilst she rode back to Cove to retrieve them.  After Axiana's opening speech, Leanne began to call forth the contestants from the lists:-

After awarding the prizes, Axiana thanked their host, her herald and those in attendance.

She wearily gathered the horses and began to head home.   She had not walked far when she disovered a 'bloodied mess' along with a note, behind the Swaggers!  She took a sharp involuntary intake of breath.  Another Covian had been taken!

"We have her Cove!  Meet our terms and ye shall see her face again"

Axiana paled.

We will be using UBWS (use best weapon skill) lances.

The use of your own weapon and horse is prohibited, you can only use the items issued at the tournament.  After use the items provided should be handed back to Axiana.

To win a jousting round you must dismount your opponent using the dismount ability.  In order to use the dismount ability and once you have equiped the lance and mounted the horse, you should open the special moves book in your paper doll (in classic client this will be the purple book with a dagger on the spine and in the enhanced client this will be the character abilities icon), drag the dismount icon and highlight it then in war mode double click your opponent, and ready yourself for Charge.

To move on in the tournament you must be the first to win two rounds against your opponent.

Should you wish to have an introduction, then you will need to contact Rimeny (V) or Eve/Axiana on discord in advance of the event.  You may otherwise, if you wish find a person of your choice and ask them to introduce you.

The Vesper Leg of Axiana's Jousting Tournament Hosted by Rimeny De Blaze

The last time she had seen her lover he had acted in a cool, cold manner towards her, and she realized with certainty that the affair was over between them.  Understandably things had been kept quiet in public, the church would have frowned upon it and Axiana would have been shamed.  Axiana was a married woman after all, even if her husband had been missing for many years.  Perhaps her lover had realized the impossibleness of the situation or had had his fun and now moved on.  Either way she had accepted it, she did not regret it.  She was moving forward with her life.

Axiana rode through the eastern forest towards Vesper, her hair flying out behind her in the breeze.  The autumn leaves covering the ground rustled as the horse's hooves relentlessly hit them.  She felt exhilarated and happy, she loved to ride.

"I'm looking for a Mr De Blaze?  We arranged to meet here!", she asked one of the Vesperian punters who was seated beside Carolin outside the Swaggers Inn.  The Vesperian lady pointed upwards towards the doors of the inn.

She recognized him as soon as she entered the Inn (from the previous Jousting Tournament).  "Mr De Blaze!  A pleasure.  Shall we discuss the arrangements of the upcoming Jousting Tournament that is to be held here?"

After the arrangements had been made she joined the remaining punters in Swaggers for a few drinks.  Time past and a few drinks became a few too many!  Amoungst the punters were Mischief (whom she had previously been advised not to speak with again) and Ayseh, a Vesperian woman, whom she had met at the Cardinal Feather the night before.  Ayseh offered Axiana an odourless liquid in a vial encouraging her to drink it in order to Sober her up. Axiana took the vial and held it in her hands staring at it bleary eyed.  Mischief leaned in and took the vial to examine it, and giving Ayseh a horrified look threw the vial on the ground "Poison?"

Soup Glorious Soup!

The main ingredient in Axiana's Glorious and extremely Tasty Soup was the finest Covian fish ('Highly perculiar' to be precise). Not put off yet?

I thank ye for thy letter.  I have amended the report and must apologize for the mistake that I have made, I could have sworn that ye were there! Perhaps there is something wrong with my eyesight?  No I think not! Perhaps it was someone dressed up in a halloween costume?  An admirer perhaps?  Someone that wants to be you!  Yes that must be it!  It is a strange world.

Bonfire and Firework Display!

As folk from Vesper, Yew and Cove began to arrive, I encouraged them to assist me with lighting the bonfire to warm the cold evening air!  Once the fire was underway everyone gathered round and the story telling began...

One of my earliest memories when I first came to live in Cove, was of meeting an old Covian woman named Martha, she told me of the ghost that haunts the property that Leanne and Elizabeth both now own, a widow who had hung herself after poisoning her only child!  I related the details of the tale this eve.

Following other horror stories shared by both Leanne and Hoagie, I prepared the attendees for the ensuing firework show.  Some of these fireworks unfortunately backfired!

However, most of them delighted the audience!

Then it was onto Swaggers for their Halloween Party!

Preparations for the coming Bonfire and Firework display

(OOC: This will be a half hour only event and will be held on Tuesday 30/10/2018 8pm GMT.  Swagger Halloween party afterwards.  /OOC)

*Axiana sat in front of her mirror whilst finishing tying the ribbon in her hair.  She was staring at her own reflection.  She had not seen him now for several weeks.  'Was he called away on army business?  Perhaps he was hurt or injured?'  She closed her eyes.  She could not bare the thought of that!    'Or... was he in the company of other women?'  She opened her eyes suddenly, at the thought!  Jealousy was not an emotion she was accustomed to, and it did not feel pleasant.  She frowned. It was not as if she was unaware of his history, as in, his licentious behavior with regard to women.  She moved over to the window and looked up at the sky, now obscured by clouds.  'Stay occupied!'*

Following a visit to the local farmers in Cove, I returned to Memorial Square with a pack horse loaded with pumpkins.  I set about carving out pictures of animals that are apparently meant to scare!  A large cart arrived with my delivery, shortly afterwards, holding two very large looking pumpkins.  These of course had been crafted specially for the coming event.  One had been meticulously carved!  After attending to them, I then traveled east into the forest, (to gather enough wood and kindling to bring back for the bonfire) but not so far as to be in any danger!

The Yew Leg of Axiana's Jousting Tournament (Report)

Once we had gathered in Cove town, we set off to Yew.  The journey there, to my relief, was uneventful.  Upon arrival in Stonekeep, we were greeted by Kros Vandor, the present governor of Yew and host of the evening.  He had taken a prodigious amount of care in setting up everything ready for the joust as we had discussed, and had also made food and drinks available to any who cared for them.  To my glee, the weather remained dry throughout the evening *remembers back to her previous visit to Yew*!

The Lists!

Once I was seated (Mordred at my side) with quill and parchment in hand, I began the arduous task of taking down the names, ranks and deeds of those wishing to participate.

What should happen then?  The usual drama!  An implacable, resentful and dishonorably discharged member of the Yewish army turned up in an attempt to disrupt the entire event!  He had managed to drag almost un-liftable rotting animal carcasses into the centre of the jousting area.

 
As if this was not eventful enough, a white boned knight, risen from the graveyard, wandered into Stonekeep (Where is the security in Yew, I ask thee?).  I remember the noise of the white-boned abomination as it let out a blood curdling scream, it's bones clattered as it was finally dispatched.  However, it had not been dealt with swiftly enough, and had caused injury to the Governor of Yew (Thankfully it was but minor).

The Joust!

Following the removal of the dead animal carcasses, the joust was finally to commence.  Mordred called forth from the lists the first two contenders:-

Leanne Melior v's Rimeny de Blaze (V) -  Winner! Rimeny de Blaze

The second contenders to be called:-

Hoagie Grayner v's Fritz Segur - Winner! Fritz Segur

I believe that as a result of his defeat, and possibly due to the effects of alcohol, Mr Grayner did decide to remove the entirety of his attire in front of the audience!  I will not post the pictures of this most inappropriate event here!

Third contenders to be called:-

Gimbly the bald v's Art Ibmab (Grd) -  Due to a wound re-opening as Art attempted to mount his horse he was unable to continue. 
Phil Lynx (Grd) decided to take his place.

The Joust will be held in Yew on the 14th October (See above)

Under current law only a select few are authorised to ride a horse, however, with this event an exception has been made.
Armor, special lances and horses will be loaned to those participating.  The winner of each joust will be determined by whoever dismounts their opponent, best out of three.
This is an opportunity you should not miss out on!  Anyone may participate.  Put your name on the list today!
