Good luck! Hope it all goes well.
I joined as a Special Constable for Strathclyde police last year, been active since May last year. It's been great. I worked at the UEFA cup last year in Glasgow which consisted of wagging the finger at Spanish people pissing in the streets. Not surprising given the lack of public toilets.
I'm surprised you have driving tests, in Strathclyde we're not allowed to drive the cars. Which doesnt bother me as I dont drive anyway.
One thing to bear in mind is that the official training will likely bear little resemblance to actual policing. I remember one cop (female) I was out with screaming "Aye, come back and say that to my fucking face!" at some fleeing neds (chavs) who were shouting insults as as they fled a park. They kept running - until one had to come back, realising he had left his jacket at the scene. Numpty!
Also some of the cops can be a bit funny, especially the older ones. I prefer working with the newer/younger ones.
Lil' bit different down here in England bud; and I mean my PERSONAL theory test, not the police one haha!
