I'd gathered some bodies and was just waiting for word from a contact about a job that needed doing when Tib' returned from a little wander. He'd seen our allies limbering up for training. I needed to keep The Company busy and it was unlikely I'd hear today now from my contact anyhow so no point in dawdling about. I asked Tib if he thought we should show the Vesperians how things are done and he agreed heartily.
We caught up with our allies at the Minoc Portal and made our way through to the Spirituality region of Ilshenar and made our way to the harpy nest with two mangey pack animals in tow. Once close to the nest Devante split us into teams... Basically The Company versus the rest. I liked our chances and our allies liked our uniforms. Devante said he was going to get in touch with his tailor, I just hope it ain't the same one as Tib's.
The rules were simple. Whichever team gathered the most gold and feathers won. You could knock the other team off their feet and liberate their loot too. How much more fun could we have! We set about our business slaying the harpies and making our way back to the pack animal to store our loot, then it happened. The first attack! After that the din of battle could be heard for some time until Devante called a halt to proceedings to decide the winners.
It was plain to see that Cove would be victorious. The Company had given the birdwomen a good slapping and the other team a damn good hiding too! After tallying up the feathers and gold
"Team Raiden/Donkey!" were declared the winners! If they had tallied up how many times we'd knocked our enemies into the dirt too we'd have been even bigger winners, even if some Vesperian elf lass won a purse full of gold for being knocked over the least.
We made our way back to Minoc and I gave Tib' some money to get the ales in at the Swaggers while I took our winner's prize
(over 16,000 coins, nearly 2,500 feathers & 1 mangey pack mule) back to Cove. By the time I'd made it back to the Swaggers Tiberius was gone and the ale kitty too! Old habits die hard I guess.
