Led by:
Mercenary Torrak Keres.

Attended by:
Mercenary Sergeant Hoagie.
Veteran Mercenary Kas Valentine.
Mercenary Recruit Faden Wildheart.
Mercenary Recruit Chris Exea.

Before I get into the specifics of our supreme victory, behold the sketch....

(I used expensive paints from Moonglow)

When our "forces" gathered at Trinsic gate and prepared to move off to Delucia there was a lot of doubt in the air. Initially the Covian contingent consisted of myself, 'Keres, Exea and Wildheart stood alongside about twelve from Vesper (including two civilians). A few voices expressed worry in regard to our coming battle, not without foundation I might add, but regardless we rallied together and made for the altar in the Lost Lands.

As we passed through Delucia we temporarily took Felix Kendall and Vaughn Goodwill into the Covian fold, both being archers they would doubtless prove useful in the hours to come.

Upon our arrival the altar blistered with magic to summon in the pixeys and shadow wisps which came in considerable numbers. I have to say I almost collapsed under the onslaught of their spells, their hatred has not subsided, but my fellow Covian's kept me upright. Funnily enough despite their miniature proportions the fairies are actually considerably powerful foes. Course they perish to a single energy bolt, but given half a chance they WILL annihilate your face and that of your friends.

Some people were hesitant to raise arms against the fluttering and floating adversaries, what with their general disposition being of a friendly flavour, but once people began to fall well.....

The fight really got started.

Our fury saw us through the waves of tiny foes which of course meant we could light more and more candles upon the altar and disturb their larger companions. I remember one thing and one thing only when we finally managed to achieve this, the fact that several angry ki'rin's is not something you're likely to survive with a smile.

I wouldn't be held back though, I retreated to the healing station and awaited 'Keres delivering my bag of reagents and then we headed straight back in there. At this point the fighting really began to prove troublesome, we only had a small number of folks to combat the hordes and we needed to slaughter a lot faster if we were going to anger the Nest's guardians.

Thankfully we received a gift from the Avatar !
A single miracle that would turn the tide of the battle !
An eleventh hour decision that changed the course of history !

Sergeant Hoagie had arrived.
(Some attribute the success to the arrival of a ten strong group of Yewish, but "some" say a lot of things)

With his fists of steel and iron will we set about crushing the fluffy horses with renewed vigour. Hooves exploded into shards, wisps poofed out of existence and as a result the next group of defenders arrived to protect the altar. Once again we were pushed back somewhat due to the vast numbers of unicorns and centaurs that galloped into the clearing, catching us unawares.

But we healed, we formed and we cracked the horns from their pretty faces.

You can imagine the scene, all the more so with the assistance of my brilliant artwork, we were slowly but surely making progress. Of course then we were assaulted by massive serpentine dragons and flying ethereal warriors, but hey, we had a giant red dragon on our side thanks to Captain 'Flowne and above all.....

WE WERE NOT GIVING UP !

It was while our Covian group was making short work of some dragons when the call rang out across the battlefield, "LORD OAKS AND HIS QUEEN ARE HERE", instantly rallying everyone to the clearing containing the altar. Oh what a glorious battle commenced, a finale to end all finales. The Yewish formed a circle of bodies (literally at some points) around the fairy queen while the rest of us destroyed it from range.

Once she had fallen....? Well my friends, we turned our attention to Oaks himself.

Naturally weakened by the loss of his Queen we had a window in which to make ourselves known, but nevertheless the flapping of his gigantic wings continued and he fought valiantly. But come come, none can stand under the combined forces of Britannia. With a little concentration and a 'helluva lot of bashing and firepower the massive protector of the forest nest was felled.

And we....?

We celebrated our victory in true Baronship style !

FOR COVE AND THE COMPANY !
(And our allies, I suppose, but we did all the work)

Signed in flashy curling handwriting,
Veteran Mercenary Kas Valentine.
