This was the first time I had even been to the Barracks of Cove, and it won't be my last. I took a long walk through the Covian buildings, to soak up the atmosphere of this town. Dressed in my slightly tight but well protective Covian armour, I finally felt like for once I could make my mark somewhere.
My first mission, albeit fairly small was to gather a bedroll for myself. The only gold I had was the 800 gold coins I had saved up from doing errands around the camp I came from. This would be my first purchase as a Mercenary of Cove, and it felt quite exciting.
As I approached the burly gates leading to Coves fortified town centre, I took a deep breath. I could see the people of Cove doing their business, I had been here before but this time it would be different. They would see me as something else, before I was just a citizen passing through. Now, I am seen as a Mercenary, hired by the Baron to do his bidding and protect Cove, and its interests.
Whoah! That's quite a big jump in a afternoon, and i've not had any training yet!
I grasped my quarter staff, and walked through the busy town, feeling quite proud of myself. I smiled, and greeted the local inhabitants, and cheerily asked where I may find a a seller of provisional wares. I was gladly guided by a young child to his building.
I knocked on the door to the shop, and walked in, it was poorly lit and smelt horrid. The same building was shared by a butcher, a cobbler, a rancher and the towns provisioner. I shuffled through the room and asked who I could speak to about a bedroll. I was guided to the man in the corner. I greeted him, and introduced myself, he responded, telling me t'call him 'Remington'. I smiled, asking if he had any bedrolls in stock, which he did. He also gave it me free of charge, and told me t'come to him if I needed anything else in Cove.
So, my savings will last another day it seems, and just aswell, who knows what will happen tomorrow.
