In order to prepare ourselves for the upcoming battle, we were called to Cove fields for some training. Our Commander was leading, and he lined us all up, ready to tell us the first order of business. He started by asking who wanted to do the report, but no one volunteered! In order to keep things moving along, I volunteered myself, mostly so I could make sure my triumph was
adequately fabricated accurately recorded.
Since Vesper's force consists of a large number of mages, the focus of the first part of the training was ways in which this could be overcome. The mages were lined up at the North End of the field, and everyone else to the south. Then, one by one, they would
fall over attempt to charge the mages. Not surprisingly, none of them were particularly successful. However, this was to illustrate a point! Groups of mages are a powerful weapon, and alone, you have little chance to survive. We spent the next little while discussing what went wrong, and ways that you can overcome mages in force!
Next, we had an explosives training! We lined up at the side of the field while the Commander set up two dummies as targets. We would then take turns to throw a grenade, and a firebomb at the targets. My aim was perfect, nearly destroying the target each time! Everyone else was quite good, but not quite as good as me! At one point, I damaged the target so much that is apparently turned into a blue rabbit! I'm not quite sure how that worked, but I assume I accidentally magicked the grenade.
Finally, we were divided again into two teams, this time for some attacking/defending at the Watch Tower. I'm not sure who designed the team robes, but they were a weapon in themselves! Our team started on the defence. The teams were more balanced this time, with arcanists on both sides, so we hunkered down, and braced for the inevitable assault. When they finally came, it was a fierce battle, but we managed to emerge on top. When it was our turn to attack, we charged in and bowled them over like pins! Pow! Crash! Fazoom!
I feel it taught people an important listen. The team Thomas is on will win!
