Last eve, Grenadier Sergeant Keres put us through our paces with a rigorous training that started on the Barracks Rooftop and ended up on a distant island that had some excellent training facilities.
Attendance ListTorrak Keres, Grenadier Sergeant Kal Shadowhand, Officer Cadet
Gregor Eason, Senior Guardsman
Nicholi Ravnthorn, Regular Guardsman
Celuvian Haap, Junior Guardsman
Morgar Dyn, Junior Guardsman
Edward.. (nay certain of his surname!), Guardsman Recruit
Basic Squad CombatStraight away Sergeant Keres threw some combat training at us, which certain individuals like myself were in dire need of.. We worked initially on Basic Squad Combat, simply building up healing skills and our targetting ability. Sergeant Keres then, with the assistance of Junior Guardsman Haap, demonstrated some hard hitting tactics which I will nay post here out of secrecy. All I will say is that such tactics could defeat any well entrenched enemy.
Serpent's HoldThe Sergeant then had Junior Haap form a portal to a distant island that I believe I recognised as Serpent's Hold. Here there were some excellent training facilities, left over by the Britannian Army I imagine. Here we separated into two squads with volunteers as leaders; for one team it was Sergeant Keres, but for the other, astonishly, a brave Guardsman Recruit Edward stepped up to the challenge.
Defend and Attack ScenarioWe then trained with a simple defend and attack scenario, and it was interesting to see the various archery tactics employed; I counted at least three archers at one point. However, me being me and having no concern for such artistic showmanship ran into battle with my faithful mace and shield. My other teammate, Junior Dyn, enhanced in combat as he competently threw his axe around. In the end, our team was victorious despite the best efforts of Sergeant Keres and his chaps.
Special AcknowledgementI grant a special acknowledgement of Guardsman Recruit Edward, who did a superb job at leading our team into battle, and showed a remarkable sense of strategy and cunning in his tactical performance. Keep an eye on him.
