The Panda Hunt!

Hunt for Pandas, Saturday 15th October

Whilst taking their ease in the Barracks in the early hours of the morning, an interesting discussion took place between assorted guardsmen regarding the usage of panda bears in battle.  These rarely seen creatures of legend are rumoured to possess great strength and ferocity in battle.  With this in mind, a small group of intrepid guardsmen travelled the length and breadth of Britannia in search of these beasts under the command of Sergeant Joey Lanai and aided later on by Cove's Mayoress, Ysabelle.

The first stage of our quest was to gain the services of a beast master capable of capturing one of these ferocious beasts.  Recruit Hoagie believed that his native city, Jhelom, was home to the kind of beast master we needed.  We travelled to the Valorious Isle via the Minoc moongate and began our search, meeting several strange natives.




We struggled to overcome the language barrier with some of the natives and found nary a trace of a beast master.  Whilst here we met Mayoress Ysabelle who accompanied us on our quest.  Recalling my geography, I suggested we next try the city of Skara Brae, home to the rangers.  It was in this city that we chanced to encounter a beast master, one, alas who claimed ignorance of the pandas.






We explained the great value of these beasts to the beast master but alas she still claimed to know nothing and even the boundless charm of Cove's Hero Joey failed to sway her.  The beast master even suggested that the Vesperians may have  wiped out the great pandas.  Given the unstoppable force that the Covian militia would be if reinforced with these juggernauts of destruction, the Vesperians may well have done this heinous deed.  She offered to catch us some polar bears but we scornfully declined.  T'was in Skara Brae that the Mayoress and Recruit Olchafa Serpernt left the group.




T'was around this time I recalled that Moonglow was rumoured to possess a zoo and that the last of the pandas may well dwell in this sanctuary.  Increasingly desperate, we travelled to Moonglow and searched the zoo.  Alas, we saw scant sign of animals and naught of the pandas.  Disheartened, the sergeant decided to call a halt to the quest for the time being.
