Greetings everyone!
Finally the holliday break is over and I have more time to spent with BoC. During the last weeks I somewhere saw a post concerning a new division and itīs name. Unfortunately I canīt find it right now... but I do not understand it...

The "new" unit is supposed as the Baronshipīs heavy infantry, a job well done by our Grenadiers. The Grenadiers on the other hand will be restructured to a missile unit.
Sorry, I donīt understand it. In my opinion the ONLY way it works is the following:
The Grenadiers stay the heavy infantry, the backbone of our fighting, supported by the ordinary militia and with the reconnaissance of the Light Division. Let the bronze arms continue to be the last an enemy sees beside a sword or axe falling on his head.
The new unit will be the missile unit, Arkays Archers or however. Why do you want to stop a past full of glory by that stupid -sorry to say- change.

[ooc]As a real soldier I hate the army changes, that often involve stupid and brainless reformations killing old traditions!! [/ooc]

There are several good point to consider in your essay Ben...But I fear that I don't support your wiew. I have no problem seeing that a third squad might not be "out of place". The restructuring will be as follows. The Scouts roles will remain unchanged, while the grenadier will become more of a support branch of the covian militia and finally the new squad will become the army's central unit. A defensive unit which other units can rally to. The rest of the militia will be regular troops which support these three specialized divisions.

The change was only brought into place because it just so happened that the majority of the members of the Grenadiers, were in fact archers (and good ones).

The Grenadiers will still be seen as a strong fighting force, but will just be a strong fighting force that uses bows rather than hand to hand weapons.

Also, if you think about it, its not stupid at all. If the majority of the Grenadiers were Archers, it would be sensible to put all the Archers in one squad so they can use their archery skills to the maximum, and instead of moving them all out to another group, we keep them in the Grenadiers and just change the role of the squad.

The Grenadiers will ofcourse remain the personal escort of our Baron. We just felt that the Squadname Grenadiers was more fitting for a ranged unit when we were deciding what to name what.

There will be plenty of good stuff announced next sunday  Wink
