Who is Hrothgar, you may ask? Well i shall gladly tell ye the long and quite enjoyfull story that IS Hrothgars life.
Ye see Hrothgar is not an ordinary Guardsman, in fact he is as far from it as anyone could. Hrothgar began his life span in... yes indeed... In Cove, where he was born and raised by a loving mother and a hard-working father named Elizabeth and Joseph De'Mar. Joseph served as a Sergeant in the Dukes scruddy militia of farmers and other peasants, the militia at that time did not have the fancy equipment and blades as it does today. Elizabeth on the other hand was a Clerk for the Mayors office, a woman of admirable beauty and grace.
Hrothgar was only twelve years of age when the great tragedy struck, the village of Cove had been pillaged by Pirates from Buccaner's Den, the scum burned all buildings and had the women and children hung from the cliffsides of Cove, the men were taken captive to be sold to slavery in Nujel'm. Hrothgar was not in town when the pirates hit the village, he was out in the forest chopping wood just as his father had asked of him. Upon arrival to the Village Barricade he noticed a large cloud of black smoke from within the town, as he rushed within he was disgusted at the sight of mutilated cadavers of the town guardsmen at every turn and the houses burned to nothing but grey rubble.
Hrothgar rushed through the village, towards his humble home only to find rocks and ashes on the ground. He kneeled to the ground with not a single drop of tear from his eyes, rumour has it he was on his knees for three whole days until the royal army arrived. The town he loved so deeply had perished, his parents with it. Fortunately for him there were survivors to the tragedy, including the towns ruler, Duke Conrad Gavestone. The Duke re-built the whole town with the help of union workers from Britain, but as for Hrothgar, he vanished.
The town authorities marked down the casualties and marked Hrothgar as a captive since his body was not located.
Fourteen years had past and the destroyed rubble that was left had been re-built into a prospering community. One day a stranger entered the town, his clothes were cheap hand-crafted rags on fastened to his belt was a spiky club. He walked through the town and into the mayors office, The Clerk looked up at him "Good Day sir, how might i be of service?"... The stranger replied swiftly "I seek citizenship"... "And thine name...?"... He replied... "Hrothgar".
No one is certain where Hrothgar had been all these years, some rumour he lived in the woods, others say he moved to Jhelom...
As Hrothgar returned to the Village he bought an estate within the city, Where did he get the gold for it? As i say, no one is certain...
Hrothgar eventually joined up into the militia and served a short while under Duke Conrad Gavestone until a new ruler took up position within the town, a baron named "Killian"... The Duchy of Cove became then The Baronship of Cove... Hrothgar fought alongside fellow guardsmen against the ruthless orce hordes to the east for ten years. Eventually Killian grew tired of his own reign and resigned from his position. Shortly after Killians resignation a new face rose up, a man known as Octiovus Von Richter, a member of one of the norths most largest and most powerfull noble families. Octiovus assumed the position of Baron having great promise for the small fishing village.
Hrothgar left the Town for the second time, thinking this Octiovus fellow was just another fatheaded merchant lord wanting to turn Cove into a coal mine.
He travelled to Trinsic and took up work for a Crimelord there, Hrothgar's role was to enforce the word of this Crimelord and eventually was chosen to become the Lords right hand.
He served there for six years until returning yet again to Cove, well ye know the saying "All roads to lead to Cove"...
This time the Covian forces and the town had increased significantly, the small fishing town he had grew up in had become even larger then the Vesperian Republic! Hah!... It seemed that Baron Octiovus was a more capable ruler then he had first thought...
Hrothgar immedietly joined up and began his full fledged career in the Covian militia which today stands as the Covian Army.
