Where: Minoc
When: Sunday 10th September

Led by: Roland Dagorian, Templi Squire

Attended by:

Garret Latham, Templi Squire
Joey Lanai, Dragoon Sergeant
Vincent Redfield, Junior Dragoon
Anthony Poena, Guardsman Recruit
Oberon, Guardsman Recruit

As news reached us that the Avatar had granted Cove victory in Minoc, I sought out the Faithful to undertake the first step in a great quest.  The search for the Book of Sacrifice, a Holy Relic of the Church, one of eight holy tomes.

There are still those who doubteth the path of the Avatar, among them the Scout Shadowhand who strucketh me as I entreated his aid.  Not wishing to be further delayed in carrying out Avatar's work, I warned him that his vile conduct would not go unreported.

Knowing the Loyalists would be reeling in their defeat, we marched at once for Minoc, City of Sacrifice.  My first goal was the town hall of Minoc, alas the Loyalist Commander Jurrell hath sealed it with wytchcraft.  Undeterred, we searched other likely buildings.  I discovered a most heretical work dealing with llamas, and a tome on the Virtues by Lord British, but not the Book of Sacrifice.  Dragoon Redfield uncovered a vile tome regarding drow, with doth feature the illustration of a drow female most scantily clad.  He assured us that this tome would be burned in the Dragoon tower and was most insistant on securing it about his person.

Alas, Avatar did nay smile upon us.  If the tome is nay in Minoc, mayhaps the Vesperians did steal it?  The search shall resume in that heretical city.

In Nomini Avatar,

Roland Dagorian
Squire Templi

Where: Vesper Graveyard, Shrine of Sacrifice
When: Sunday 17th September

Led by: Roland Dagorian, Squire Templi

Attended by:

Raiden Morana, Senior Grenadier
Ebony Oakbane, Guardsman Recruit
Vlad Valten, Guardsman Recruit

To My Lord Preceptor Hugo,

Following the lack of success in Minoc, I did attend Vesper and scoured there.  I found out that indeed a Vesperian, named Joseph Harker, had bought the Book of Sacrifice and returned to Vesper.  He died during the Yewish occupation, of old age 'tis believed, and was buried in the graveyard.  This blasphemous wretch had Willed that this holy tome be interred with him.

As thou art aware, since the retreat of the Ophidians the graveyard is once more everrun with undead.  I returned there this day with three Guardsmen and with Faith in the Avatar, we entered the graveyard and fought the undead, hunting for clues as to the grave of the thief Harker.

At first it looked a most daunting task but Avatar did guide us unerringly.  We found signs that the ophidians had desecrated many of the sepulchres and deposited much of the debris in a building, including many tomes.  We searched amongst these tomes and our Faith was rewarded when Avatar did guide us to the book of Sacrifice.  Praise be!

We fought our way out and then made pilgrimmage to the Shrine of Sacrifice to resanctify this blessed tome.  The book was placed on the Shrine and we recited the Holy Mantra, Cah, three times.  Thus resanctified in the eyes of the Avatar, we made haste back to Cove.  I shall report to thee regarding the seven other tomes.  I have a most promising lead regarding the Book of Humility.

In Nomini Avatar,

Roland Dagorian,

Templi Squire

The Book of Sacrifice,

By Redren Mallor

In Minoc, City of Sacrifice there once lived a family of tinkers.  For three generations they had maintained a blacksmith and tinkers shop, the eldest son always inheritating.  The patriarch of the father at this time was a Rory McCarron.  His eldest son was called Josef, his youngest Derrick.

Josef, as eldest, was raised from earliest childhood as the heir to the family business.  The youngest, Derrick dreamed of a life of Valour, soldiering in Lord British's army.  He was supported in this by his family.

For several years he trained with the Minocian guards, learning swordsmanship.  At the age of sixteen he enrolled in the Britain town Guard and at the age of twenty became one of Lord British's Order Guards.  A bright future seemed certain.

But then tragedy struck the family.  Josef died in a cave-in whilst mining.  Their father, Rory, already an old man and weary after a lifetime of toil, sent a letter to Derrick declaring him the heir to the business and the future patriarch of the family.  Derrick was now torn between his duty to his family and his desire to fight for Lord British.

He thought on it long and hard, a life of monotony running a shop, or a life of glorious battle.  To do his duty by his family he must sacrifice his career in the Order Guard, or abandon his family for a life of Valour.

In the end he chose Sacrifice over Valour, resigned his position in the army and returned to Minoc where he learned the trade of blacksmithing and tinkering from his ailing father, producing many fine weapons and tools for the remainder of his life.

Thus endeth the tale of Sacrifice.
