BackgroundKrieger was born the son of a successful blacksmith in the town of Minoc some thirty summers ago. His parents neither poor nor well off, Krieger had an average education – at least, he could read, write, and was capable in arithmetic – and had an upbringing of some hardship, but to no great extent. Throughout his childhood and teenage years, he was always keen to help his father, despite the evident fact that blacksmithing would never be his true area of expertise. Rather, it became apparent that he was somewhat skilled with a mace.
There came a day in Krieger’s early twenties when a levy was set up in Minoc to conscript soldier to march to war against the Juka, who at the time had overrun Yew. The Minoc-based company was raised under a certain Captain Roberts, who recruited Krieger as an Ensign – an Officer in-training – recognising his mature and levelheaded personality throughout the short two-week initiation training. The Company soon marched south to rid a Juka force gathering southwest of Britain.
The mission was an overall success. On the field, Krieger – now the Captain’s 2nd Lieutenant – ordered his Squad to burn down a number of farms, effectively depriving the Jukas of supplies, which otherwise could stem an invasion of the capital itself. Though at first considered a disreputable action, Krieger was later commended for his initiative, and promoted to Lieutenant. He continued to fight with his Company until the Juka had been entirely beaten back.
With the disbanding of his company, Krieger returned to Minoc and took on a temporary role of night watchman. Roughly two years passed, during which time both his mother and father passed away. With no family ties or relationships to bind him, he set off to travel for some time, and soon reached Cove ...
AppearanceKrieger is a middle-aged man, having a plain, and somewhat weathered face with an impeccably well groomed and maintained, long, thick, majestic beard. He has dark blue eyes, and an averagely sized nose.
In stature, Krieger is tall and muscular. He is well built, likely through years of training and his choice of weaponry, which demands great strength.
At most times Krieger is seen in full armour, carrying an imposing sledge hammer rested upon his shoulder. When in battle, he will tuck his beard safely and securely under his belt.
PersonalityKrieger is a sociable fellow with a good sense of humour, though reliable and conscientious due to his past as an officer, being able to maintain a serious attitude when it his required. He is confident in his ability as a soldier, though certainly not overly so, regularly sparring with his comrades atop Cove Barracks. He enjoys a rum, and is drunk perhaps a little too often.
Work DescriptionAs a Junior Marine, Krieger primarily steps in as second in command to the higher ranking guardsmen, taking over certain duties when required, and helping out in others. He is also tasked with guiding Recruits and Watchman on the right track towards earning their Covian Cap, and, as the first and only marine of the Baron's Navy, acts as the Commodore's second in navy business.
Goals & MotivationsKrieger’s primary goal in service to the Baron of Cove is to become a junior officer of the army. He would be intent with making this position as part of the regular guard force, however he has inclination towards the Baron's Navy.
