Cove Occupied By Orcs And Undead

It was nearly time. The parade, in full battledress after training stood smartly to attention as the ships bearing Covian insignia rounded the headland in the distance.

These were the reinforcements promised from the colonies. guardsmen drawn from Covian outposts throughout the lands. Grenadier Captain Morana and former Commander, now Senior Guardsman Eason stepped forward to meet their new comrades as the ships took up their moorings at the docks.

A greeting was offered by the two Covians with a muffled response from the ships. Eason and Raiden looked warily to eachother as the boarding planks dropped and the undead and orcs swarmed forth.

The Captain and former Commander managed to scramble back to the line of guardsmen who were already forming up into a defensive position. The massed invaders stopped only meters from the small band of guardsmen as the orc warboss shouted orders.

The position seemed hopeless in those few seconds but the Covians steeled themselves and Raiden gave the order to charge. The front ranks of orcs were smashed by the charge as almost in disbelief they tried to repel the guards.

Small melees broke out throughout the town but eventually the Covians forced the orc and undead invaders back to the docks and almost into the sea before a strange beast swooped from above.

Some foul demon conjured from the depths of the abyss swooped again and again at the brave Covians as they retreated into the safety of the gate house.

The demon uttering strange words of power began to smash at the gate house. Its incantations struck fear into the defending guardsmen as they broke and made a run for it to the barracks.

What foul deceit was this? Cove town was now in the hands of undead and orcs, Covian guardsmen bloodied and cleaved making hasty defences at the barracks, colonial reinforcements feared slain by the score and demons abroad in an Avatarian town.

A Red Moon rose over the Baronship that night.
