The force that gathered outside the barracks would not be large enough to make the mission to Sanctuary a success, yet I would not see warriors stood around idly, so when Miss Salle, understudy to Doctor Jones, revealed to the lineup that she had managed to decipher an old treasure map the Company escorted her on her way to where 'X' marked the spot.
Miss Salle recognised the location to be a small island not far from Buccaneer's Den so once we stepped through our arcanist's portal we headed to the Den's docks and hired a small craft to ferry us to the island.
We arrived at the location where the treasure was supposedly buried and using our entrenching tools we set about digging it up. It wasn't long before we heard the tell tale 'dink' of metal on metal, we had indeed struck gold. We strained and heaved to drag the metal chest free from the earth but whoever had left it there had obviously not wanted it to be disturbed and through some vile wychery we were set upon by firey elementals and liches.
No sooner had we beaten them back did dread spiders and seemingly out of nowhere massive ogres appeared. However these went the same way as the elementals and undead and we were able to drag our booty back aboard ship and head for home.
Coins, jewels, herbs and ancient armour and weaponry were recovered with plenty shared out between us and entered into the coffers too. I also believe our Cartographer discovered another parchment to decipher so perhaps a similar adventure will naybe too far off.
