A Mining Expedition into the Solen Caverns

Attending were: Amon Jarl, Nobleman Penny Freckletip, Steward Euler Leonhard, Commoner Maibaum Holzfee, Commoner Mat Shadowhand, Commoner Captain Hoagie Grayner Junior Grenadier Falconheart Junior Grenadier Buttons Mr Me'an Silen, Watchman Mr Garrison Hawke, Watchman A Mr Kiltan, who came and went rather mysteriously, but helped to dig up a good share of ore.

A warm thanks to all those who accompanied me into the ant-caverns near the crossroads yestereve.

Although terrible creatures made up of earth and ore of every shade appeared, and although we came upon ferocious insects easily each the size of three of our ponies together, neither we miners nor our pack animals suffered any real harm thanks to the guardsmen's quick work.

That left we six safe and free to turn our hands towards veins of the most precious ores... even gold! We had such great success that we sent up for fresh pack horses afore we'd set foot in the lowest levels of the caverns, where we took a few moments to rest up and have at the pies and cheese we'd brought along. Until someone took it upon themselves to bring out a bottle of hard liquor... or leastways I assume that's what it was, given the behaviour of some of our crew thereafter.

Upon our return we gave some three-hundred ingots of shadow ore over to the Army. Mr Shadowhand and Mr Leonhard very generously allowed the rest of us to split what remained amongst ourselves. And the soldiers turned a fair bit of loot over to the coffers.
