A. PATROL SIZE AND COMPOSITION:
Company of two (2):
Iolan Grimsditch, Recruit Guardsman, Core Division (Field Leader)
Ruby Whalebiter, Watchman, Core Division

B. MISSION (Type, location, purpose of patrol): To clear local Solen hives and eliminate breeding queens.

C. TIME OF DEPARTURE AND RETURN: 12/12. Estimated time of departure, 1300hrs. Estimated time of return, 1430hrs.

D. ROUTES OUT AND BACK: We entered through the Avarician wing of the hive (75o 41'N, 90o 29'E) and travelled two levels down to the north-east. We were held up at areas holding large sand-pits vacant of Solen presence but infested by other insects. Tunnels were less complex than expected and was not difficult to trace way back to entrance.

E. RESULTS OF ENEMY ENCOUNTERS: Majority of aggressives were small 'worker' ants. Few 'warrior' class ants found even in tunnels housing a queen. We therefore had little trouble eliminating three breeding females.

11,041gp were collected from remains and turned in to the coffers upon return.

F. CONDITION OF PERSONNEL: No casualties.

G. CONCLUSIONS/FURTHER COMMENTS: Whilst passing through the area the very next day, I came upon a self-described 'amateur naturalist', a Trinsican by the name of Emre Khaldun, who told me that he and his fellows were able to travel through the hives unmolested, and did not find the red Solen to be aggresive. He had no theory as to why the same ants might be aggresive towards myself or others. This  may bear further investigation?
