Report:After the rather heated 'Bum Branding' session, including a fine performance from Corporal Sanderson, Cadet Keres took all attending guardsmen into a line. The first test was to stand silently for a time until the Commander showed up. We did very well at this task, although I could sense a slight wavering in resolve we did not stray from the line by the time the Commander arrived.
One of the arcanists took us to Serpents Hold where the training was to commence.
Sally and myself were volunteered as team captains. For the first game we picked teams, Sally Eben Cailin and Traitor were Rubbish Team Pink. Myself, Hoagie, Pickles and Rook were Heroic Team Green.
For the first game the teams of four formed up in opposite corners and were let loose. Rubbish Team Pink team won by bringing down the Green's mages early.
In the second game the Brave, Noble Greens stood fast and defended the fort after successfully keeping the mages alive.
In the third game it was Team Pink's turn to defend the fort. Three of their number gathered above the gate and shot down at the attacking Team Green. One of Team Pink's number stealth attacked Team Blue and followed them away from the gate. This aggressor was taken out easily and after some chasing up and down stairs the rest of Team Pink fell. Overall the Magnificent Team Green won by two games to one!
The next game involved a 2v2v2v2, spread out among the arena. Sally and myself put up a brave fight, bringing down a couple of the mages but Team Commander Hoagie and Traitor won the day.
Cadet Keres proposed a new kind of free for all as the last event, where we were to run to the healer if we are hurt and then re-enter the fray! Unfortunately I could not attend this event but I heard the brutal fighting for ages when I was outside Cove's walls.
It was a very tough training session that covered a range of different ways of fighting. Next time I will win, next time!
