Sonova!

Safe the Weapon, Safe the Weapon.
Duck! Damnit! Run, Run Run!
Use the car, good cover.
Damnit its swiss-cheesed! Move...
Which building! Arg!
"Corpsman!"
Damnit your bleeding, keep moving, hes dying.
"RPG! RPG! incoming!!"
*explosion, broken glass*
Get up, just knocked down, run
Gotta get there.
"Corpsman! Where the hell is Doc!?"
There!! That window, that building.
Hes there.
Sprint it out, ignore the pain.

Made the door! Thank the stars!
"Man down, man down! Corpsman!!"
Up the stairs, run, just run.
Made the landing, the door is splintered.
Four on the floor. One just in the door.
Hes propped up by a soldier. Where is the corpsman?
There! The one I hit!
Rush to him, not breathing.
Start CPR.
One. Two. Three. Four. Five.
Twenty-Nine. Thirty. Two Breaths.
Not breathing.
"God it hurts!!"
"We need that corpsman!!"
"Please Call the Chaplin"

Hes still not breathing, he is dirty, he is bloody.
He has my bullet in his chest.
One.Two. Three. Four.Five.
Twenty-Nine. Thirty.
Two Breaths.

Damnit, its been Twenty minutes, Can not give up.
"Where in the Hell have you been!"
"HMMWV got torched, how is?"
"Ain't Gonna make it Doc"
"Call the Chaplin"

The corpsman doesn't care about my efforts.
Pool of blood beneath me.
He tries to stop my work. I strike him.
Gotta keep trying.

One. Two. Three...
Strike him again, WAIT!
The Chaplin! Pulling me off.
"My son he is gone, he Is gone"
I stare at him disbelieving.
The corpsman make a summary check and nods.

My brother is dead.
Father, I have killed my brother...
"My son God shall Forgive,
He shall forgive the penitent man"
Shake head, push him aside.
I hope you say your prayers in Arabic.
And I need no Gods forgiveness

My brother is dead, and I shall see him in hell.
Walk out, collapse on the stairs.
The Corpsman rushes to me.
Chappy begins to pray... he looks at my dogtags.
"My son, I see you proclaim to have no faith"
"What prayer would you have"
None father, just have faith that men shall be brothers again.

So fast...

And so sad, cause - unfortunately - such terrible mistakes actually happen.

Damn, wars are so stupid...

Authors general Note: I have personally NEVER experienced a combat situation, I have NEVER personally seen someone die, though I have seen the dead. Just had this idea "pop" into my head so I wrote it out about a soldier who kills his enemy, and truly wishes it never had to be that way. Also the Soldier never speaks with quotations, only hears his own thoughts. It was an interesting way to convey some action I thought.
