Patience, Guardsman RecruitIn the ever present push to recruit more Marines, I encouraged Patience and John to join me on a Naval excursion and show them the ropes.. not just the ones onboard! Harr!
We departed from the Naval Offices, aboard the fleet's latest addition, braving the local waters and making our way out to sea. I briefed the guardsmen on our task.
"As Covians, it should be our duty to protect Cove's land, whether it be offshore or not!
One of such Covian islands houses a dangerous portal to another land. We shall be setting up a watch, to ensure that no evil creatures spill out from beyond, and into our world.
And offering safe passage to any refugees who flee to Britannia!"We ventured into a large marble structure, which seemed to have been abandoned for quite some time. According to the old Covian charts, the building housed a tunnel deep into the "Lost Lands".
After waiting for a while and scouting the rest of the island, we encountered nothing of any interest, and I decided we should venture down and take the fight to them!
The charts gave some idea of a route through the caves, although they were narrow and offered little alternative.
Emerging into the light, the surroundings at first seemed little different from Covian soil.
Eventually we found some new and interesting creatures to liven things up; large birdlike beasts, but without wings or feathers!
We also found a small ruin, infested with undead, and made a stand there in the name of Cove and the Baron.
After a brief while scouting the area around the cave exit, we returned through the passage to the boat. I recorded the information we had gathered, making many notes on what we had discovered. This gateway is on Covian soil; distant, but still our own! We should do well to use the Navy as the first line of defence, against whatever may come from beyond the sea!
