In the night

AAAAHHHHHhhhhhhh!!!

She woke, clutching the bed covers to her chest drenched in sweat, sitting upright suddenly. Panting and eyes wide with fear she nearly jumped out of bed as Raiden reached over to touch her hip.

"Shhhh shhh, love" He said groggily, half sitting up to circle his arms protectively about her.

"Drow an Thugs and explosions an...tae babe..an an..." She muttered, her eyes welling with tears as she sunk her face into them. " an ye were gone..."

He pulled her tightly against himself, stroking her hair gently, and rocking her. " S'only a dream lass.  S'only a dream. 'Am right ere, holdin' ye. "

The night before had been uneventful in Cove. Nothing happening at the Goblin but the foul odor that no amount of cleaning seemed to get rid of. She decided she would go talk to Becca, Swaggers Tavern owner to talk to her directly about the goings on.

When she arrived, a girl was behind the bar. At first Rai thought it to be Becca's Tailor, but the lass was too young. "Im Sioned" she said. Rai ordered a glass of water, and tipped the girl with her remaining pocket money. Dirk walked in with his usual swagger, joking with the girl. Another man walked in, and introduced himself to Rai, shaking her hand, gripping a little too firmly for comfort as he briefly stared into her eyes-almost challenging. She firmly shook his hand back, meeting his stare. Sioned went on about how she was not allowed to go visit the Goblin as Kiran was there, and Becca was afraid for her safety. "No ones gonna bother ye little lass. Ye have eyes and ears that will keep you from harm." Dirk had said.  Other words were exchanged between the new man and Rai that set her on edge, but she dared not start a fight with no back up. By the look of the man, he was a hardened fighter, and clearly she was just being tolerated in the Tavern she once called home by him.

"Its my first night behind the bar" said Sioned- just before a drow woman walked through the door. Rai stiffened, and Sioned seemed just a bit nervous too, as the woman walked over to the far wall and table, looking more than a little threatening. 

Rai swallowed back bile that rose in her throat, covering it by sipping her water as a bottle of expensive wine was ordered to celebrate. The Drow woman left breifly, and Rai searched for a gift to give to Sioned on her first night working the bar. Clearly, the lass was in good hands and being protected. Her own safety did not seem as guaranteed here as Esca had said it was, just at the moment. She took the diamond bracelet she had found with Kas when rummaging through the ruins of an old Covian home that had collapsed over a year before. She took it from her wrist and congratulated Sioned on work well done, putting it on her wrist, despite her stating she couldn't accept the gift.  Rai rubbed her hair. From one barlass tae another. Hope ye get a lot o tips!! Keep it hidden from yer baby sister, but show it tae yer mum after the little ones gone tae bed."

With that, she left, and walked quickly back to Cove, looking back every now and again to be sure she wasn't followed. She briefly checked for signs of anyone awake, and finding no one, decided the best course of action would be to go home to safety, and to Raiden.
