Dear Commander,In the second hour of this morning, Vesperians approached Cove with no warning, wishing to speak about some "matters". I found them in the tavern primarily, lined up and shields armed, looking rather hostile. Hanse Davion was leading them it seemed. He gave me an insult as a supposed "greeting", and continued to insult our Covian Guardsmen (including myself) consistently. Nevertheless, I asked him to come for a private word about whatever it was elsewhere. He insisted on bringing two bodyguards, even though I had stated I was going alone. I unequipped my weapons and remained alone, as I took the three Vesperians upstairs to the Baron's Office. There was nowhere else quiet and confidential we could go.
I stood next to the Baron's chair for two reasons; One being that I am not the Baron or Commander, so did not see it my right to sit there. The other being that I recently pulled muscles in my ankle whilst hunting in the Abyss and had been advised to move it and keep pressure on it. Not to my full sense of suprise, Davion had a problem with this. He himself took a seat or two and kept telling me to sit down, commenting on how well I have been disciplined and my manners. This, I thought, was extremely contradictory considering his manners and attitudes towards us Covians since their arrival. I nay asked them to sit, as it seemed their matters at this time in the morning would have a short duration. He kicked up what I would call a "major fuss" about me not sitting down. He said it was like me "talking down to him", although he could have stood up and therefore be taller than myself.
He stated he would not reveal the content of his reason for being in Cove unless I sat down. This was his way of apparent blackmail and control over me and Cove as a whole, which I would not support in any way, shape or form. I allowed them to leave.
For about an hour following this, they remained in the tavern hurling random insults at the guardsmen and generally making a major nuisance. Davion was making vulgar comments about how he thought I got my injury. I asked Maccen Korten to shut the Goblin for the night. We were all ready for bed after our long day of duty. One of our recruits, Jassi Cowin, seemed to think it wise to go and join them for a drink at the Swaggers' Inn. I discouraged it, and told him to take his uniform off if he was doing such a thing to socialise with them. He did so and went with them for a drink. Soon after, I knocked on the Grenadier Headquarter's wall in hope that Sergeant Keres would assist me in retrieving the stray Recruit. I did not see myself physically fit at that time to be hobbling down to Vesper. It turned out (from what I heard) that Kobra, Cor'vani, Keres and Mortan were the ones to go attempt to retrieve him. I nay know what came of that. It was only in the tavern after the Baron's Office - in public - did Davion decide to let loose that the Queen's agent had arrived and made propositions to them that concerned us.
Davion's arrival in Cove was self-centered and certainly motivated by the apparent need to pick bones. I do strongly advise you Commander that you find out what these propositions from the Queen were. However, I also advise you do not contact Davion about this. The likes of Escaflowne would probably be highly more appropriate. Cove's safety could be in danger if we do not find out what the propositions were. I simply did not see it appropriate to find out at such a time in the morning with no warning nor preparation. I shall assist you in any way I can with this, however.
Thank you for your time in this matter.
Yours faithfully,*Signed*
Kelly Sanderson, Sergeant
