Not as far as i know. But that doesn't stop you from creating something like it. There used to be a viking guild in Yew i think. CoY. Not sure if they made it through the application stages.

Haha, Hjalmarr still occasionally posts his rubbish on TBHCom. But no, they never really got in, there were too few of them.

There's no fixed lore in UO but there are a lot of Scandanavian players so you'd be wise to put a little bit of research into it, at least, and pay due respect to their culture and heritage!

Well, I am a American but I listen to A LOT of Pagan heavy metal bands etc.. Most bands I listen to are from Scandinavia, I can also speak a little bit of Finnish.. I am also obsessed with Norse Mythology..

I'm not standing here judging you, you don't need to explain yourself to me! But there was a "Celt" guild in CoY that used to infuriate me (born in Wales) as it was about as Celtic as Kim Jong Il Wink

I can imagine a few cringing Scandanavian players if you were to do similar justice to their culture, haha. Just do it some justice is all I'm saying.

Alternatively just run around with long, blonde hair, an axe and claim to be some Altmerian mountain dweller or something and just make up entirely your own culture loosely based on the Vikings without, yknow, claiming to be something you don't entirely understand.

Aye its best to make something "Viking Esque" but don't call yerself a viking, you'll only piss people off. Its better to assume people don't have the maturity to deal with you fun and will assume you mean to isnult them, so just don't bother, another option is to go to an American dominate shard and play nobody there would really care, Save the odd American claiming to be Scandinavian/American.

Yeah, I remember that guild, there's always the Highlanders, sort of similar to Vikings.

My old GRD Besieger Egrad Stormberg was from a Mountain village in the Kos Heb (Mountain range in the icy part of lost lands)

Used axes and Viking swords, sick sense of humour very war like and cruel.
I loved it!

Also...they'd most likely be heathens worshipping either Lithos or Pyros cause of earth and heat..(To Archangeld see Ultima lore for more details)

Wikings as my Swedish friend pronounces it.

Are you proposing to play said char in BoC, in which case I am unsure how that would work unless as suggested an Altmerian Mountain Man or elsewhere?  If it is elsewhere then it would be appreciated if it was not discussed here.

Vikings didn't listen to pagan heavy metal and we view them as silly little kids mostly. Vikings would've been more into irish folk (heheheh). And they definitely didn't speak Finnish, the spoke Norse, which is a completely unrelated language. But as the others have said, you should use UO lore, so Pyros or Lithos would be good. Even though the Glenmore Highlands are more Scottish-esque and you've also got Skara Brae which is Scottish-esque, they'd probably be better for a "viking," especially Skara Brae, could be a sea raider of sorts?

Lol what's that, stick a Mac at the beginning of your name and pretend you're Mel Gibson? You make Donnie Munro cry.  Wink

Narh, I jest.

In all fairness - while they were probably a good 60% weeabos - probably the most historically faithful non-"Britannian" cultured guild I've ever seen was TBK/KTD. You sort of want that level of commitment to history I think if you want to try and bastardize someone's culture.

I remember TBK/KTD, and how I was initially firmly against the idea of having Japanese roleplay in CoY. But hot damn, they made it work and made it extremely enjoyable for those within the Guild and those who had the pleasure of interacting with them.

Anything can work in UO really.

But aye, if you want to go more 'highlander' than Viking then the Glenmore Highlands is a good place to think about given their history with Cove and the famous Highlander squad, who our Commander Morana was once a part of.

Just a wild stab in the dark but if you made a viking/highland themed clan, couldn't they be a division of BoC, say we've allied with yourselves, I might be up for making a scottish - themed character... it would be nice to see another race in Cove. Maybe they could be dwarves Smiley
