Watchman Trials: Rook

Yet another one who thinks they’re worthy of the Covian Cap. I’ll have to start making these trials harder…


Task One: Mastering Medicine

As a guardsman, it is important to look after yourself and your health. I want you to research common medical problems and injuries that people in our line of work face and hold a training session surrounding what you have learnt.



Requirements:

*At least three guardsmen must attend your training session.
*All research and prior work must be included in your report – Consider consulting guardsmen that are knowledgeable in this field, such as Cadet Kobra.
*Consider what topics you would like to focus on in your training session. Examples: Taking care of boots and feet, hygiene, illness and diseases.


Task Two: Dealing with Deadites

Due to the recent attacks from Undead, I want you to gather a group of guardsmen and lead them on a ‘naked’ run through Deceit. No armour allowed! Show them a lesson!



Requirements:

*At least three other guardsmen must assist you on your mission
*At least twenty thousand coins must be retrieved and donated to the Church. You must give the funds to them personally and advise them of your efforts to purge the spawn of the guardian.

[OOC: I would encourage the use of the ‘Dark Nights’ feature for this event for those who participate]

 
Patrolling Paradise

As our efforts spread to other parts including Nujel’m and with the ongoing war efforts, we need to be comfortable fighting in different environments. I want you to lead a series of patrols to the following places:

~An orc Fort
~A jungle
~A desert
~A swamp
~Somewhere extremely cold

 

Requirements:

*Two other guardsmen must attend each patrol
*A minimum of ten thousand coins must be collected on each patrol.
*Evidence of your studies and learning from each area must be demonstrated below.


Reports should be written for all the tasks within this trial, including sketches and description of processes and events.

Task Two: Dealing with Deadites

Destination: Deceit
Notable Events: The dark crypt held a surprising challenge for us. Although the ghost would be swatted away easily, without our armour, the weight of their numbers became a challenge at times. We travelled deep until we reached Fire Elementals, and purged all evil that stood in our path.

Patrol #1 - Orc Fort, Cove
Terrain features: Small Island, One entry via land, Largely made of rotten wood palisades, the air is filled with a pungent aroma of unclean orc and rotting waste.
Noteworthy remarks: A significant amount of unused furniture. Should we take a fort like this, it is suitable for short to medium term defence.

Patrol #2 - Jungle, Lost Lands
Terrain features: Narrow pathways, Humid temperature and plenty of ambush points
Noteworthy remarks: Home to large colonies of evil creatures, not to be wandered through without sufficient military support.

Patrol #3 - Somewhere cold, Ice Dungeon
Terrain features: Rocky, with ice and snow
Noteworthy remarks: Temperatures reach very low levels, warm weather clothing is required.

Patrol #4 - Swamp, Humility
Terrain features: Wet, very woody, smelly
Noteworthy remarks: Swamp attracts all manner of evil creature. We were met with undead that came up from the swamp. We fell two golden rotting corpses in succession - perhaps worthy for consideration?

Terrain features: Hot, Dry, Scarce vegetation
Noteworthy remarks: Sparse landscape leaves a long time without fluid of nutrition, prolonged periods would require a resupply or a well thought out preparation. Sheriam would not attend here on holiday.

Task One: Mastering Medicine

Part 1:
Destination: Britain
Notable Events: I wanted to provide some training on medicine which would be related to my own craft. I travelled the scholars of Britain and researched more about the benefits of certain herbs, and when processed and treated, how it would benefit a injury. I prepared 70 potions using ginseng ready for the training session.

Destination: Labyrinth
Notable Events: The group were given a short lecture on how to apply bandages effectively, and the properties of ginseng. Each participant was provided with Five healing potions each, and we were to put into practice using them. I felt the best way to practice using these potions was to go somewhere we we could get hurt. We ventured into the Labyrinth, where we met creatures such as Miasma, and the Minotaur. We met a creature known as 'Rend' who caused us significant pain and trouble, so much so the use of potions would have been fruitless to assist. We made a tactical withdrawal outside the doors of the Labyrinth.

It was apparent that not many took the opportunity to test the potions, and there was little appetite to return. Illyana recommended the next location to allow the class to test. We headed to fight a giant spider.

Destination: Navrey Night Eyes, Underworld
Notable Events: The journey to meet this foe, was a -tiny- bit creepy. It required passing through a very haunted tower, and stepping into a void. Not pleasant, but we managed to get through. What faced us was a near hour-long battle with the biggest spider I have ever seen. There were plenty of causalities, but it really encouraged the use of the potions and healing each other well. After we bested the creature, a Vesperian named Rimney appeared, who joined us on the journey back through the Underworld back to open air. The loot was split between ourselves and our allies in Yew for their contribution.
