A Note on Emotes

Alright, im sure this has been said before but i think its time i refreshed your memories.
Emoting Thoughts is poor roleplay, refrain from using
*Thinks that chicken is cuckoo!*
or some such emotes, others cant read your thoughts and as such shouldnt be shown in game, expressions on the other hand can be seen by anyone, for obvious reasons.
*Looks hurt*
or
*Looks worried*
other then
*Feels worried*
and such.
Try and keep that in mind and think before you emote.
Ciao for now

*really really feels that Arc has a good point here*
A sidenote would be to avoid poweremoting also...
Everyone proberly knows but still
Instead of *hits him across his face" use "Aims a slap across his face/cheek*
Right... I'm babbling now... See-ya

Not at all. It's a good point.
A trend that is developing (and a good one at that) is the "Try" emotes.
E.g. *tries to punch*, *tries to lift*, *tries to push*
That's quite a good system of emoting, as it becomes a two way thing - allowing the character on the receiving end to emote something like...
*is punched*, *is struck back by the force of the punch*, *is dragged along*
Roleplay teamwork *tries to smirk* (
) *smirks*

...This means that the recieving side should also "play along" and not just shrug it off and play the Lord Avatar himself
Play along, get a beating IC, have a laugh OOC

Well, by the sounds of what you're telling me, you are pretty hot yourself and stand a good chance of getting her I reckon. (Don't tell anyone I told you you're hot, or you die a grizzly death).

I'll have to agree with all these points made here such as giving the receiving party a chance to pick their own interaction instead of doing it for them.
Because when you try to power emote someone you will often get silly situations such as :
*Grabs the thief’s arm*
*Dodges the guardsman*
I mean you have two whole different emotes there and it would be a wee bit hard to find out who won really since you got one side emoting that the thief has been grabbed and the thief doesn't acknowledge this.
Same things go with skills really when using a skill such as tracking or cooking or whatever try and emote it a little bit.
I know the game will allow a cook to fry 100 fish steaks at the same time and it would be finished within a second but roleplaying the cooking might be more interesting and this gives you the chance to slightly overcook the food or add too much salt or whatever.
Anyway so much for my little rant.
