Patrol of Cove Town

I started the patrol by gathering Goldhamer and Stonespear at the barracks. As I organized and briefed the men, THE VANGAURD AMBUSHED US! We were nocked flat and the scum marched on Cove town. We quickly regrouped and dashed off to town. Their assault was relentless! They even had us against the wall when suddenly The captain, and SARGE! Came to our rescue timley aid! We soon crushed them and gathered 8 thousand crowns. I divvied it up amongst the men and dropped 5 thousand into the coffers!

What happened:
We went to the orc fort and killed a lot of the orcs including a massive brute with a stupid looking hat on. When we were about to leave a man in a red robe showed up and took Olchafa away! He returned to us shortly however and we ran back to the barracks where we counted the amount of gold.

  Sergeant Hoagie had just recruited a new soldier by the name of Vaisal Richmond so I decided to show him some basics by taking him on patrol. After getting familiar with him I let him know that we would be on a patrol to Altmere and I told him to do the report (After explaining the basics of a report of course) He seemed capable so we set off. We arrived at Altmere smoothly and I ordered him to scout the outpost and report back, Altmere was calm and peaceful.

  Since activity was at a minimum and we were making good time, I took him on a tour of Grenadier HQ. The recruit noticed that brigands were trying to attack the building so we quickly dismissed them and I commended him for his good hearing. We then finished the tour and headed back to Cove, there I reminded him to do the report and dismissed him.


**  After I met Vaisal I explained the basics of doing a report and asked the recruit to complete one. He seemed perfectly capable so I did not think anything of it but in his absence it seems he's either forgotten or neglected to do the report. Bearing in mind I didn't expect this I must admit I did not record the date of this patrol or any gold collected.

I wouldn't blame the recruit right away for making a mistake, he is new and military life is confusing sometimes so I shall forgive him this time **

Location:  Main Gate Cove.

Report:

With the up rise in crime and muggings, I felt it wise to conduct an unannounced sentry at the main gate of Cove.  We gathered at the barracks and moved to the gate.  There I gave the Watchmen their tasks, Delferium did some speed chopping and Kobra brought in the hides.  As quickly as Delferium could produce logs, I went to work making crates and placing them.  We had a basic sentry in place in less than four minutes.

We posted ourselves out in front and checked anyone who came by inquiring as to why they were in Cove.  The town’s folk seem to be happy with our presence at the gate and the shift went with out incident!

Report:

After the hunt for food that Watchman Kobra took us on in Ice, we returned to the barracks in Cove with food and gold.  Because of the food shortage, I decided to set up a sentry at the barracks in anticipation of possible food riots.  We had fresh veggies that have been in short supply.

My fellow Grenadier went forth to gather hides, while the rest built the sentry.  The recruit has done a sentry before so was helpful in setting this one in place.  As Watchman Kobra secured the food supplies we posted guards outside to ensure that the food supplies were safe from those who would try to make profit from those who suffer.

Because of the quality of the Sentry and the fact two Grenadiers were present, there was no riot and the food made its way into the hands of the healers so the people could be fed.  It should be noted that while on a sentry, duty could be boring and drag down moral.  So it’s good to have things to counter the effects, in this case we had the grand singing voices of Watchman Kobra and Recruit Guardsman Keres to help past the time.  Job well done men!

Patrol Log 08/08/08

When: I didnt have my timepiece with me, but it was well past midnight

Realizing it was a tad late, and that we should all be getting home to our respective wives and children (or lack thereof), we set out for a brief patrol of Altmere and the nearby desert.



We killed some harpies, ogres, brigands, etc. along the Altmere road, and a multitude of scorpions and strange swirling masses of sand in the desert. When we'd had our fill, we staggered out of hell the desert and returned to our respective (or temporary) homes.

Report:

With all that has been going on in Cove, I felt more combat training was needed to keep us sharp!  So I held a training event at the barracks, which covered; Cross-healing, formations, targeting, commands, team work and knowledge.  I ended it with a last man standing.

I took the guardsmen and broke them down into two team; each team had a man of arms and a range fighter.  In the first mission, the range fighters were to attack one another while their partner keeps them up.  They had to stay up for a full two minutes.  This went well and no one was knocked out, I then switch and had the range fighters heal the men at arms, again for two minutes.  They to did well with neither side loosing anyone.  While this was taking place the Inquisitor stopped by to observer our training, it was nice to see the church actively caring about us.

We then went in to formation training, this included where to stand by combat type when the command was given, why we do it and alternate positions.  We also covered Charge, and Targeting.  For the later RG Perrin acted as a Lich for us, his movements where spot on but skin tone was a bit off.  I explained that some times other members could be the center of the formation not just the commander.  You can have an archer or arcane user as the center of the formation based on the tactical situation.

We then went into the last man standing; as usual they took out the arcane recruit first, then went after the watchman.  After almost six minutes of watching the Sergeant and the Regular beat on each other, I called a draw!  It was like watching a fight in a mirror.  As usual for my last man standing, I awarded a prize.  I let Sergeant Hoagie pick first and gave the other to Regular Perrin.  Sgt Hoagie got a case of fine Covian Ale and RG Perrin a check for 5,000 gold coins.  Watchman Delferium was dismissed to take care of other issues.

The rest of us went on a patrol to the graveyard to put our training in to practice.  The goal was to have are arcane user as the center of the formation and not let her go down.  We arrived and were meet at the fence with a multitude of nastiness.  I gave the order to Form and everyone without hesitation fell in protecting our arcane user.  We cleared the fence line and moved to the gate, where I saw a lone pig watching us.  The Command was given, Charge the Yew scout!  Needles to say there will be bacon for breakfast!  We then entered and formed again dealing with the on slot of undead.  I caught movement to the north, a Lich!!!  The command was given, Target the lich!  It fell like a ton of bricks, when then cleared the rest of the area.  As we headed out, another lich attack, again we used the targeting command, and it join its brother back into the abyss.  We then headed back to Cove, confident in our training and skills.  I then dismissed the class, with a job well done, everyone passed today!

On or about 18:30 hours 08/09/08, I was on my way to the barracks in Cove to change and pick up the Fair Lady Axiana for our dinner engagement.  Being early as is my nature, I took a stroll around Cove to make sure all was well.  As I reached the north side of the park I found an Orc Brute inside the park stealing apples, Covian Apples!  This would not do!  So I did what and true Grenadier would do when faced with less then favorable odds!  I attacked!  I stood my ground, firing arrow, after arrow into the monster!  He called for his troops to fell me, but it was not to be!  For I am a Covian Grenadier, I slay the Brute and turned holding my ground killing each of the orcs that had come to aid their leader.  I then looted their ugly corpses and took them to the bank.  I then proceeded to the barracks to clean up and change and meet the shinning star of Cove Lady Axiana.

Patrol to the Covian Grave Yard, Monday 11, 2008

A lad lost him mother there and we were to make sure no one else came to harm

We headed to the grave yard to make sure that the walking dead stay dead another day so that travelers do not get attacked and killed like this new lad we now have hanging about in Cove by the name of Tristan. We cleared the Grave Yard then headed to the Town to make sure all was in order there, Once there I sent the Serg, and Regular to check the North tower, and the Junior and watchman to check the walls as I went to the Local healers to see how the sickness was being fought. With some good new from the in reply, The sickness is slowing but still there but with yer patrols we may beats this thing once and for all. I then thank the healer for the good news and then headed back out to wait for the men to return.

After all was dealt with that needing delt with, I ordered the men back to the Barracks in a Force march fashion where I then Dissmissed the to what they wanted to do.

I formed the men up and we marched our way out to the border. Altmere was riddled with uglies as usual which we dealt with in grand Covian fashion. Upon reaching the border I split the men into two group and patrolled the roads south and north until were back at the crossroad outpost. Upon the reports of alls quite I force marched the men to the barracks.

Officer Cadet Kal and Recruit Yenril donated 700 gold to the coffers, I donated 640 coins to the coffers.

We walked out tword the Desert and whe went in to make sure the scorpians nay Killed anyone To our surpise we Found a dRagon It swooped down and Blew its flames across the desert! What few trees there was Were Light Aflame! Soon we were facing an Army Of Scorpians and A Dragon that seemed to Lead them! The Dragon Flew ahead of them it Struck relentlessly we ended up being forced to fall back to Town The Dragon Didnt leave its Desert home and its Armys withdrew.
