Called together by Officer Cadet Hrothgar for a hunt we set off for the dungeon Deceit. A reassuring sight on our arrival was the Covian flag and recruitment pamphlet.
It was not until we were inside that it was revealed to us we were
there for an important mission. To gather information on Auxil
who's acolytes had recently been plagueing Cove.
Searching the upper level we could heard blood curdling screams ringing throughout the corridors. We descended deeper into the bowels of that foresaken place and fending off the undead creatures that dwell there continued our search.
At one point our leader became unwell, spewing up blood. Concern was such that there was talk of turning back for fear the illness would be fatal but Hrothgar insisted we complete our mission.
Our spirits were raised as we came across a room containing two chests but a search revealed nothing.
Undaunted we pressed on and, eventually, stumbled upon a secret chamber where Officer Hrothgar found a tattered piece of parchment.
The writings were some kind of riddle..
Our mission accomplished we set off for home but our adventure was not over yet for as we made our way out the very walls began to shake and large pieces of the high vaulted ceiling came crashing down.
Running from the Dungeon we were surprised to see our noble flag had been replaced. Then the red devil that I had seen sketched in the army reports appeared.
We all readied ourselves for action and it quickly came.I feared we would all fall but I must learn to have more faith in the indomitable spirit of the Covian Army for, after a long and bloody fight, we brought the beast down!
Searching his body Hrothgar found the following note which read:
"You have made great progress with the Covians. If you had not been there at the fort when the Covians invaded the Orcs would surely have been slaughtered. Auxil is pleased with your work and states that you are his finest creation yet.The continueing orders are to make sure the Orcs are rallied and safe then move onto the haunted graveyard in the Shire and unite the Liches there under his banner."
We returned quickly to Cove with our new intelligence where Hrothgar congratulated us on our efforts and rewarded us with gold.
