Name: Derfel Dagorian
Family known to live: Roland Dagorian (brother)
Alignment: Neutral Good
Age: 16
Hair: Long, blonde
Height: 5"9

Derfel was born in Minoc to a blacksmith and tavern maid.  His father had once been a paladin in Trinsic but was forced to retire after being badly wounded in battle.  Derfel was the youngest out of five children, three boys and two girls.  His second eldest brother, Roland, left home shortly after Derfel was born, squiring to a poor knight.

At a very young age Derfel followed in the family trade of smithing and mining, also developing a love of tinkering.  The peaceful life was shattered with the Loyalist invasion.  As the Rebels and Loyalists turned the frontier town into a battlefield, trade became nearly impossible.  During one of the final battles the Dagorian family was caught in a crossfire of arrows, spells and conflageration potions as they huddled in their home.  Derfel had hid out in the mountains and found only ashes where his family home once stood.

With his family dead, his home destroyed and his livelihood strangled by the war, Derfel soon found himself begging in the streets.  The war ground to a halt, but Derfel knew it could flare up again and made the decision to leave Minoc.  Leaving for Cove with only the clothes on his back, starvation and exposure nearly killed him.  Penniless, he arrived and found to his horror his only known surviving family member had joined the Church.  With no choice, he indentured himself to the Baron, effectively Baronship property until he repays his debt, in exchange for food and shelter, and work.

A ragged serf, Derfel looks to the day where he may rise from his low station and seize his own destiny.
