*Gimbly placed the report onto the Commanders desk*Dear Sirs,
I wrote em report here after the, in my opinion, one of the most shamefull
and desasterous battle in the history of Cove and try to not only mention the
facts but also try to analyse the slaughtery from my point of view.
Known facts :------------------------------------------------------------------------
attended members of the Milita of Cove (including mercenaries): ´bout 25
attended members of the Vesparian allies: ´bout 10
others: ´bout 5
no animal followers
(not included the undead forces)
Total members of the northern army: ´bout 40
splitted into weaponclasses:
1 mounted
1-2 Archers
3-4 short spearers
2-3 stealthers
2-3 maglings
rest melee based units
wounded (knocked out) in battle: 34
------------------------------------------------------------------------
attented members of the Army of Kaldor: ´bout 10
attended members of the Kotodama Clan: ´bout 8
animal folowers: ´bout 4
Total members of the enemy army: ~18
(counting the animal followers as 1/2 normal soldier)
splitted into weaponclasses:
3 mounted
1-2 Archers
2-3 maglings
rest unknown
wounded (knocked out) in battle: ~5
------------------------------------------------------------------------
This makes an roughly 3:1 majority as mentioned by the Baron himself.
Ive drawn a tactical battle plan ´ere:
As ye can see the Kaldorians made a block in the middle of the battle field and
were able to hold their formation ´till the end of the battle. About four to five
meele units built the core and sporaticly charged wounded enemy units but
returned to the block if they were about to pass a certain distance.
On the other hand we were randomly charging the enemy engagin their
skirmisher into an one on one fight. Our wounded commrads didnt have a save point,
a core where they could have returned and mybe healed and get new strengh
or commands for the next fight. And so we were taken out one by one
waekened by the core or random skirmisher and then hunted down from at least
two enemies. We failed to heal each other nor did we attack focused on a certain
target. Taking the enemy battle stratics our 3:1 majority turned into
a 1:2 majority for the enemy per fight (a mathematical paradoxon but quite suitable).
Well thats the way i saw em battle and why we finaly lost the way we did.
I also made another theoretical battle plan as ye can see here:
As ye can see, i´ve drawn a core block as shown above including heavy infantry
at least two archer and a mageling (size about 6 units) used as supporter, save and
healing point for skirmisher, armed with weapons for dismounting enemy riders
and nailing down incoming enemy skirmisher. For attacking or breaking up a solid
block as it was made by the Kaldorians i would suggest a combination of at least
one mageling
(riding on a broom doin fancy thingens and..) and a few
meele units armed with explosive potions as a little welcome gift and of course
for making enough heat under their buts forcing them to break their formation.
The skirmishers should form groups with at least two members to ensure an acceptable
level of healing and enough power to bring an enemy down before he is able to regroup
with others or reaches his main force. (and also as we know meanwhile from several
battles em Kaldorians and yellow skins use battle moves which are extremly powerfull)
Well i know the tactic above is only theory but maybe its a way to get em bastards
and i would say its better to lose knowing you tried your best and have had a chance
than completly ignore all knowledge and be doomed to repeate the failures of the past
again and again ´till the moral of the troop has vanished like em good taste of an ale,
ye placed somewhere outside in the hot sun for hours and some nasty little stinkin crawly
creature tries to .. I guess ye know what im trien to say..
yours faithfully
