Led by: Qom Riyadh and John Dell

In attendance:
  • Hoagie Grayner
  • Zoie Hayden
  • Flina Trix
  • Faden Wildheart
  • Grief Dryfh Gry
  • Jakob D'Stoke
  • ... some Vesperians (left early because they weren't prepared to use their brains)

Recently we've met again in the fine Covian Academy of Fighting Excellence to talk about some boxing again.

After saying few words about previous meeting, me and mister Dell told the attendees about another two fighting styles: an in-fighter and a boxer-puncher.
Below are short descriptions of these styles.

In-fighter
In-fighters or swarmers stay close to an opponent, throwing intense flurries and combinations of hooks and uppercuts. A successful in-fighter needs a good "chin" because this usually involves being hit with many jabs before they can maneuver inside where they are more effective. The main disadvantage of this technique is that an in-fighter can succeed with his hits only in very specific stances of his opponent. If the opponent is very experienced, he obviously knows how to protect against such attacks. But the in-fighter can lead the fight in a way that will make his opponent do some mistakes, like i.e. controllably "opening" to a hit and attacking when his opponent attempts a hit.

Boxer-puncher
As noted, many boxers also possess strong punching power, resulting in high knockout rates. Sometimes, such boxers are called "boxer-punchers" since they may resort to slugging or brawling at certain parts of a fight. The boxer-puncher illustrates how fighting styles are not rigid categories, and a fighter may adopt different styles depending on his opponent or the course of the bout. This style requires alot of stamina and focus, because such fighter needs to analyze the fighting style of his opponent and change his own style. If a fighter is trained to use several fighting techniques, and can use advantages of his body, he can present quite a challenge in a fight.

After discussing the above styles, the time came for the attendees to speak. They were to describe themselves - their strength, stamina, hit power and "chin". With mister Dell we were surprised that all of them learn so quick and were able to describe themselves very precisely, using the appropriate boxing terminology.

Although Faden misunderstood the concept a bit...

The last thing to say was the fee - 500gp per person, except to persons which were present on BOTH introductory meetings (these are Faden Wildheart, Zoie Hayden, Jakob D'Stoke and Hoagie Grayner).

We have left the biggest surprise to the end:
No fighting this time! Yup. Although not as fun as fighting, the theory is something what a successful boxer must learn. That's the way it is.

See you on the next CBL meeting! But remember:
 - post your boxing description in "Apply here" thread.
 - bring 500gp with you - it's a registration fee (CBL is a non-profit organization)
