Basically like primary skills and secondary skills in WoW, well sort of. In Warcraft each player can only choose two "profession" skills, but everyone can have the secondary skills (first aid, fishing and cooking) without using up the two slots assigned to your primary skills.
So basically we could have a 7xGM fighter template who would also be adept at tasting your food for poison and tracking the footsteps of bandits (and other assorted secondary activities). I like the idea but I think it damages the delicate balance we have at the moment. Not that I've played my thief for years but if I was facing a player who had a perfect combat template
as well as the ability to track and detect me I'd be distinctly gutted.
Plus s'another step towards making UO a WoW clone which it is already well on the way to becoming. Like I say I like the idea, not knocking your wise ways Celuvian, I just don't think it would work out well for us.
(PS; Besides you have enough skills on soulstones as it is young man !
