Has there ever been any kind of tax collection in Cove? Perhaps it's something that can be implemented? Pay your taxes once a week/month or something? Someone would have to be the tax collector, and then maybe the tax collector would be hated/robbed etc etc. I dunno, maybe it's too much like the church tithes.

Just an idea I was mulling over after seeing a similar topic on UOF.

In order to have taxes people must have something that could be described as an income. And income has been discussed far and wide and the conclusion has almost always been that it's not something that is possible to do. Unless I get payed by a guild, I would definitely not want to pay to be in it.

Aye as Jack said.

The subject of taxes and pay has been discussed at length by command and it just isn't viable.

That said, from Watchman upwards an amount of gold must be collected and placed in the coffers as a promotional requirement so you are getting "stealth" taxed I guess Wink

What about tax for having a house? It'd be fun! The tax collector comes by and taxes you for a certain amount depending on how wealthy you look!

I'm sure I've seen something similar around Trinsic way. I visited a house there (a shop near the wall and the moongate) and it had a little notice either on the bulletin board or in the mailbox out front to the tune of....

"Taxman has validated that this establishment has paid taxes for the period of August"

Naturally the actual message was worded a lot better, but that's basically what it said. If Trinsic can do it then by crikey, we can rip it right off ! Cheesy

*nods* I definitely see the logic there.

Perhaps we can just establish a tax on all Hoagies.
