Guardsmen that attended; Ryan Greystone, Kas Valentine, Gregor Eason, Fabien, Griffith, Kal Shadowhand, Aileron.

Guardsman Greystone presented us with a map this afternoon, supposedly a treasure map, which we set out to follow and fill the Baronship's coffers with many many gold coins. We headed to the public moongate which we then used to travel to Yew.

A great hike was undertaken through the woods of the area, stopping briefly as guardsman Greystone guided the recruits around an old drinking spot of his (a crumbling tavern). We heard nothing whatsoever inside the tavern, no-one said a word and nothing (*nothing is underlined several times*) was gained from the experience so the hike continued with Greystone consulting his map from time to time.

After meeting a fine gentleman on the main trade route to Yew the guardsman picked up the pace and forced a march all the way past the shrine of Chaos and far to the east, stopping once they reached a wooden bridge.

"Hrm" said Greystone and consulted his map, apparently acquired from a kindly old man. Smiling faintly and returning the map to his belt Greystone shouted "Alroit hup to it, it's this way!" and led the patrol north towards a mountain range.

Within the mountain range the patrol chanced upon what its leader described as the main gates of Britain, which was most welcome since they were in need of essential supplies. Hoping to find the bank quickly the guardsmen plunged into a dark entrance within the main gates. But a wrong turn had been taken somewhere;

But Greystone was not convinced, "Britain 'as come under attack recently, per'aps we're just on the wrong side of the city". And so they went deeper into the darkness;

Slowly realising his mistake guardsman Greystone ordered a retreat to the entrance of the foul place but on their way out their torches revealed another figure emerging from the shadows.

"Eh...!? Commander Eason!? What are ye doin' 'ere sir?" spluttered Ryan.

"Thought I'd make sure everything was in order with yer hunt Junior" replied the Commander, "lets set off eh...?". Nodding and tripping over his feet slightly Greystone led the patrol  out of the cave and around the mountain range protecting it. They came across recruit Griffith in the woods and headed off in good spirits to the dungeon of Ice.

Shining their torches into the frozen dungeon the guardsmen crunched down snowy passages, where they enraged a sleeping Wrym and were forced to face is wrath;

A valiant fight ensued but the men of Cove emerged victorious;

Urged ahead by their resounding success against the Wrym the patrol delved deeper and deeper into the dungeon, fighting off all manner of frosty creatures on their way. A roar was heard from deep within the bowels of the glacial dungeon, and from the shadows the horrific form of an Ice Fiend approached;

"GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAARRRGGHHHH" it bellowed and swung down with its mighty sword against the guardsmen.

The fiend called forth more and more frost minions and soon enough only two guardsmen were left standing, commander Eason and recruit Valentine. They needed to reach the wounded, but repeated attempts by each man only resulted in failure. Fighting off ice creatures as they spoke, the two devised a plan;

"Recruit, I will sprint as fast as I'can through and past the wounded and attempt to lead these freezing beasts with me. Ye follow but five second after I leave yer and tend those wounded !" explained Eason. "But sir, yer'll never survive !" the worrying spellcaster replied. "Nonsense, just remember to follow me and make sure ye tend our wounded, ye got that..?" The mage nodded and the commander took off.

Amazingly the commander managed distract the foul beasts and return to the patrol with a grin. The injured were aided to their feet and cheers were heard all round, a fine job by the fine men of Cove, they had survived the cold depths ! The patrol left the dungeon and passage was made back to Cove where the men could rest easy and savour their victory.

Although guided by Greystone's map, no buried treasure was discovered, aside that of the spoils from the frozen place.

Signed,
*very neat squiggly ink* Recruit Kas Valentine.

A fine report, Valentine, and an excellent hunt indeed!
We were quite lucky to pull off that daring recovery successfully!
