2  OOC Boards / OOC Board / Taking a break from the game... on: May 23, 2007, 08:12:30 pm
Greetings BoC.

As some of you may have noticed - I have been a lot offline lately - this is due to a lot to do in real life at the moment. Football seasoned has started, exams and RL are the three main reasons.
I feel that I have no time to be online and arrange stuff anymore, so I am going to take a little break from the game.
Hopefully I will be back soon when things have calmed down.

Wish you all the best of luck and enjoy your game time with BoC Smiley
3  In Character Boards / In Character Board / Hunting trip to the Sacrifice shrine - Written by Watchman Maldraedior. on: May 20, 2007, 03:41:20 pm
Commanding Officer :

- Regular Conan Darkmoon

Attending guardsmen :

- Watchman Maldraedior.
- Watchman Haap.
- Recruit Mercy.

At first we gathered at our Barracks at first to check how many guardsmen that could take part in a hunting trip. We ended up with Four guardsmen in total that were ready for duty.
Our next destination was to reach the Moongate via forced march - and rally there. Shortly upon arrival, Regular Darkmoon told us to follow him to the Sacrifice shrine and that was our hunting location.

At the Sacrifice shrine, we went North towards a mountain chain in the area. The travelling terrain was bloody uneven! Making the march go longer than expected.
When we were approxly half way there - we encountered a brigand camp, that held a noblewoman as prisoner.. We quickly took care of thugs and rescued the young lass. There was no chance for her to go back to the Moongate alone - so we were forced to take her with us on our trip.

When we reached the Mountains, Regular Darkmoon told us that there was a cave closeby and that it was filled with ratmen and the like - An excellent challenge for our group!
There was never no real challenge in the monsters we encountered here, even though it was a swarm of them. Ratmen, earth elementals and crawling lizards never threatened us. Sadly the young noblewoman we had with us paniced and ran into one of our Whirlwind attacking tactics and died.

Still there was some areas we did not explore in this cavern system - rumors said that skeletal dragons could be located there. Surely an interesting and challenging task for a future planned hunting trip.

After clearing our way in and out of the ratmen Caverns - we force marched it back to the Sacrifice shrine and went back to Minoc via the moongate.
Here we had a short tactical summary, counted our earned gold and got dismissed.

With an ending sketch of the total amount of cold coins collected - as requested regular Darkmoon.

And sorry for the little bad handwork on the sketch, drawing is not my thing.

5  In Character Boards / In Character Board / Lineup drilling! - Lead and written by Watchman Maldraedior. on: May 14, 2007, 08:03:07 pm
Basic lineup drilling.

Lead by Watchman Maldraedior.

Guardsman in attendance :

- Watchman Celuvian Haap.
- Watchman Perrin
- Recruit Mercy

Audience :

Commoner Jessica Hawkins.

After seeing a lot of slacking in our lineups lately - I decided that it was time to do a little practice and drilling on it. But before we could start - we needed absolute concentration and focus .. Miss Jessica Hawkins seemed to struggle for attention at first, but went silent once we started.

The topics during the drilling was :

1* How to greet an officer outside the lineup and how do you answer an officer when you are in the lineup.

The young recruit Mercy had the honor of answering,

"You salute the officer and address them as Sir or ma'am, sir." Sounded her answer. Which is correct.

How do you answer an officer in a lineup was a bit more tricky, but after sharing their thoughts, the conclusion was drawn..

"We are not high-strung bards or tavern wenches, so you always answer an officer with a firm voice"
Good day, guardsmen! Is always answered with Good day, sir or ma'am! Not good day, not Good day sir or ma''am - but Good day, sir/ma'am!.

2* How to behave in a lineup.

This topic was answered well by Watchman Haap.

"You stand to attention and follow orders!" I could not have said it better myself.
- In a lineup you stand to attention, keeping your teeth together and speak when spoken to!

If you want attention or got something to share with the others, you raise your hand and wait for the Commanding officer to grant you permission to speak.

3* "Reward" for slacking and sleeping.

As a third topic - I told them about what could happend if they were slacking or sleeping in lineups..
Of course, this varies from person to person - but the usual punishment is a few laps around the Barracks, push ups or log-chopping. Of course, as Sir Dalamar showed some days ago, he whipped recruit Kahn for being undisciplined.

So the hints for this topic was .. "You do NOT sleep in lineups! You do NOT sleep in lineups! You do NOT sleep in lineups!"

4* Checking if anything had sunken into their heads.

Fourth happening during the drill was to check if they were paying attention and if anything I had said had sunken into their heads.

Here I turned and moved into different locations and called for a Lineup, to check how fast they were and if they were paying attention ... it went fairly well I must say. *grins*

5* As a finisher, all Attending guardsmen had to run 3 laps around the Barracks, before getting dismissed.

Patrol of Cove town.

Lead by :
Watchman Maldraedior.

Guardsmen in Attendance :
Sarge Hoagie
Regular Dalamar
Regular John Dell
Watchman Perrin

After a failed attempt to patrol Cove town during the night - I curse the sun for staying up way to long, we decided to just do a regular patrol around the town, checking if everything is in order.

We split into 3 search teams to quicken the task. I stayed as one unit, Dell and Dalamar as one and Hoagie and Perrin as the last.

We found nothing suspiscious or worth mentioning, the town was quiet and still celebrating our grand victory over the Yewians.

8  OOC Boards / OOC Board / Re: I feel that we are lacking a Mage Division ... brainstorming. on: May 10, 2007, 11:16:36 pm
We are three Watchman Mages now that I remember ... Myself, Celuvian Haap and Andrew.

I think we are 3, at least 2, Mage Recruits .. Synara Kahn and one I cant remember the name on.

There might be even more than I am not aware about as well.
One of the reasons for the pure Mage squad is not only for the current members to have a Squad to aim for - but also for new players that might wish to join BoC.

Anyways, Kaz, according to the little I have seen of you - you seem like a good fellow and good roleplayer. If you ever decide to put up a Mage division, I will support you 100%. I am sure both you and Jack Sinist would make great Division leaders.

12  In Character Boards / In Character Board / Hunting trip to the Orc fort in Cove - Lead and written by Watchman Maldraedior. on: April 28, 2007, 02:19:55 pm
Title : Hunting trip to the Covian Orc fort.

When :  28th of April, 14:00
Where : Started at our Barracks - went to Orc fort.

Commanding Officer :
- Watchman Maldraedior.

Guardsmen in attendance :
- Watchman Andrew.
- Recruit James Covian.

Our first destination planned for the hunting trip was to head to dungeon Despise. Since we lacked magical runes to gate us there - and none of us really wanted to leg it all the way to dungeon Despise, we changed our destination to the Covian orc fort.
Watchman Andrew nor Recruit James wanted to write the report since they just had finished and/or currently were working on one, so I decided to write it myself.

We forced it to the outskirts of the Orc fort - going swiftly over battle tactics and what NOT to do.

The Orc fort was well protected with a lot of orcs and a brute at the Gates leading into the fort. Things started out really dicey, with both Watchman Andrew and Recruit Covian getting knocked, but we were able to recover and get our teamwork going.

We had several fights within the fort that really put our cross healing on a challenge. It worked out well considering we were two mages and one melee recruit - both me and Andrew lacking the ability to heal with bandages made it extra challenging.

Magics has a grand defensive and offensive repertoire of spells - but it requires mental focus and mana to be performed. After fighting hordes of orclings, we were in need of meditation to proceed. Of course, at that moment the alarm bell had ecoed through the whole Orc fort - forcing us to take a tactical withdraw.

After the fall back to the outskirts of the Orc fort again - The terrain outside of the Orc fort gave us the tactical upper hand against the large orc army and we were able to defeat them. We collected their treasures and forced back to our Barracks.

We had a little discussion on what went wrong and what went good at the Fort before I dismissed watchman Andrew and recruit Covian.

The total golden coins sum collected was : 4874 / 10000
