In Character Boards / In Character Board / Report: Patrol of the Altmere & Graveyard
|

Led by: Rita Whalebiter, Watchman Dalamar Carnesîr, Regular Scout Ruby Whalebiter, Recruit Jasper Boltshot, Recruit At Regular Carnesîr's command I led a patrol of the Altmere and graveyard on the afternoon o' the twenty-fifth. We moved out northerly 'long the coast, encounterin' very little trouble as we went-- jes' the odd ettin an' spout o' magicked seawater. Boltshot interrogated a couple o' fellahs who'd been loiterin' not far from the banquet hall, who claimed t'be travellin' book traders, an' after a chat gave us no reason t'think otherwise. We skirted Avaricia on our way back t'the south east, again findin' things more or less quiet, then looped through the Shire an' came t'the graveyard. We were met by a lich an' a fair number o' the undead soon's we opened th' gate, but dealt with 'em all pretty quick, an' made our way to the stairs o' the mausoleum. After settin' out some lights for ourselves we held th' spot for some time, nay seein' the faintest lick o' a shade's tail, until we made t'head out... an' suddenly another lich decided t'show. We cut 'im down without hassle an' marched home. Jasper Boltshot, Ruby Whalebiter and myself donated our share o' the loot, 1000 gold each, t'the coffers. *signed* R Whalebiter, Watchman

In Character Boards / In Character Board / Report: Line Drill and Sentry
|
on: July 25, 2009, 02:29:29 am

Leading: Aliryl Trefynwyd, Scout Corporal Delferium, Junior Grenadier, relieved the Corporal and led the sentry Thomas Aylmer, Watchman Rita Whalebiter, Watchman Ruby Whalebiter, Recruit, drill only Kelban Longleaf, Recruit Jasper Boltshot, Recruit, sentry only Marcello Roofus, former Recruit Corporal Trefynwyd gathered up a few o' the watchmen an' recruits on the eve o' the twenty-second t' drill us on proper behaviour an' procedure durin' line-ups. After takin' our sashes-- which were the basis o' plen'y o' whinging-- an' promisin' nay t'give 'em back 'til we proove ourselves worthy o' the honour o' wearin' 'em, she ran us through a few basic postures an' maneuvers: standin' t' attention, standin' at ease, turnin' as one, an' so on. After some practise we looked a mile sharper. We were also lectured on a few other points: - Nay talkin' in line 'less spoken to by an officer. We're t'raise our hands if we've somethin' t'say. - We're t' arrive at parade with all our gear. It slows up th' whole group, otherwise. - We're t' ask before joinin' a line. Corporal Trefynwyd were runnin' as tight a ship as usual, tossin' one recruit out for bein' both utterly rubbish an' speakin' all kinds of treachery t' boot. The rest o' us were given our sashes back. Next we were t'head out t'the borders o' the Shire and gather up wood an' hides with which t'build a sentry at the barracks entrance. We built up the walls thick an' high, an' blocked off the entrance with a proper door a commoner'd made up fer us. We held the sentry thoughout the night. As there'd been so much drow an' vampire activity 'round Cove lately, Junior Delferium took th' opportunity t'perform security checks on civilians who passed by, askin' 'em questions and requirin' 'em t'touch some silver he had. He turned up nothin', and otherwise it were a quiet night, aside from a Vesperian tryin' t'gain access to the barracks with trickery an' riddles-- which we were havin' none of. *signed*R Whalebiter Watchman

In Character Boards / In Character Board / Report: Learning to be a Team

on: July 09, 2009, 01:44:17 am

Nicholi Ravnthorn, Regular, Leading Hoagie Grayner, Captain Buttons, Junior Grenadier Tam Bloodmist, Recruit Tsukiowotever Mori, Recruit Rita Whalebiter, Recruit On th' afternoon o' the fifth Regular Ravnthorn gathered up a few o' us for a bit o' physical trainin' an' lessons in working as a team. T'get the blood flowin', we started up with five quick laps 'round the roof all armed up, stoppin' at each corner ter complete a few star jumps. After that Ravnthorn paired us up: It were myself against Mori, and Bloodmist against Captain Grayner, if I remember right. We set to some wrestlin' without our armour, which I lost outright. Mori may not have a lick o' common sense, but he can hit like a damned dragon if he likes. S'the way with the mad, I suspect. After that it were a run down to the lake, into the water, an' three laps 'round it. Dash up to the town walls, where we were to scale 'em, though it took an age 'cause few could be bothered t'work together. I climbed on up the gate and helped the Captain up, ran into town, realised we were meant to be joggin' up to the Highlands, doubled back, sprinted to the south and up the mountains, 'til we met up with the others, who'd lined up at one o' the open minin' clearings not too far from the orc fort. Ravnthorn had us take turns movin' big rocks from one end o' the clearin' to the other. We weren't 'llowed to roll, only carry. When it were my turn I grabbed onter Bloodmist and got Button's big heater shield, and we each took a side an' carried our rock on it from one end t'the other. Bein' as close to the fort as we were, we armed up 'gain an' went to go kill us a few greenskins. Had some trouble gettin' folk t'form an' stay formed, an' not go runnin' off on their own, so's that some of us were knocked down bad once we'd got past the outer walls, and we had to beat on out o' there to regroup. After a bit o' a lecture from the Captain, we returned to take on two o' the big brutes, an' cut 'em down t'size. Ravnthorn lined us up again at the barracks t'discuss what we'd learnt, which were: 1. We'd all best work on our proficiency as healers, an'... 2. It's best t'take out smaller targets first, afore taking on the bigger targets as a team. *signed* R Whalebiter, Recruit

In Character Boards / In Character Board / Report: Fightin' for Feathers
|

Leading: Rita Whalebiter, Recruit Attending: Tam Bloodmist, Recruit It were rainin', so Bloodmist and I thought we'd head somewhere nice 'n dry... namely, Covetous. Ah led the way on over to the caves, gave Tam a lil' heads-up regardin' the traps n' whatnot through the cavern openin', an' spent the next hour or so beatin' on harpies an' carvin' off their feathers. The birdwomen themselves were no great danger, even the tough ones tha' seem t'be made o' stone. But we dared t'go a lil' farther and found ourselves surrounded by monstrosities o' all sorts, and ran afoul o' all kind o' foul wytchery, which nearly were th' end o' us. But we made our way on out again, got bandaged up good, an' returned t'Cove safe an' sound with heaps o'feathers for our archers and a bit o' gold for the coffers... *signed* R Whalebiter Guardsman Recruit

This eve as I were alone in the barracks, a Rookie Waywatcher burst in through the doors unarmed and demanded to see a person o' rank. As there weren't none around he told me to listen close and pass on his message: He didn't explain how, but the Waywatchers have discovered that an alliance o' drow and orcs plan to attack Cove within the next week. He agreed that this attack were likely to come up from the orcs' fort, but he had no other information at all, 'cept to hint that the drow in question may be the same drow Cove's been dealin' with for some time now. He was pretty keen t'impress upon us that the only reason he were tellin' us about this was because of the improved relationship we share with Yew these days, but there weren't no offer of further help. *Signed*Recruit R Whalebiter
