136  In Character Boards / In Character Board / [Report] Hunting in Despise on: May 24, 2007, 05:57:23 pm
23rd of May, Evening

Led by:
-Zoie Hayden, Watchman

Attended by:
-Perrin, Watchman
-Gillain Forban, Guardsman Recruit
-Mercy, Guardsman Recruit

When I made the initial call for a hunt, we had two Dragoons in addition to the people listed above. But they had pressing business punishing some naughty heirs who apparantly defaced the Dragoon Tower, so we decided to go somewhere easier; Despise.

Recruit Mercy gated us to the entrance of the dungeon and we charged in full of zeal looking to fill our pouches with riches. We encountered very little resistance to our presence there at first and the Ettins fell like flies. We even killed so many, I was inadvertantly buried beneath 3 or 4 corpses and if it hadn't been for strong arms pulling me free, I may have suffocated under the pungant stench!
We pressed on, venturing ever deeper, and the further in we went, the more resistance we came across. It all came to a head when we reached a large open cave with tunnels exiting it in all directions.

As soon as we stepped into the cave, we came under attack by 20 or so Ettins and living rocks! Dispatching them all with some difficulty, I ordered that we recover and hold the cave junction for a time to secure it. But the monsters kept straggling in attacking us with blind fervour as if they were trying to keep us trapped in the cave and away from something ahead. We must have fought continuously for 10 or 15 minutes when I noticed that we had lost sight of Perrin and Mercy. Suddenly Recruit Gillain and I were alone to hold the cave wondering where our companions had gone.

Knowing my companions well, I stubbornly demanded that we remain in the cave and hold it as best we could until they came back. I knew if Perrin was seperated from us, he would make his way back outside, and Mercy would go back to the last location we were all together. So, knowing that, we waited for Mercy to find her way back. After a tense time, she finally emerged from one of the tunnels and after I yelled at her for making us all worried, we decided to head out.

Trying to leave the dungeon was a lot harder than coming in. It was almost as if they allowed us to come in, then sprang a trap. Tunnels we'd never seen on the way in suddenly opened and Ettins poured out of them. Simple rocks suddenly sprang to life and blocked our path! We all fought valiantly and ran as fast as we could out of the dungeon and into the waning sunlight where it was safe.

As I thought, we met Perrin outside and all made our way back to Cove to sort the pile of gold we had accumulated. I made sure to set aside 5000 crowns to put into the Baron's coffers, and we split the rest. I then dismissed the group on a job well done!

I will be leading another hunt to Despise in the future to plunge as deep into the dungeon as we can to find out exactly what the Ettins down there are hiding; and why they guard it so vehemently...

Now that I'd reached the rank of Watchman, I noticed a lack of people for me to boss around. So I thought it'd be worthwhile to post some recruitment advertisements to try and get some fresh recruits to sign up. I replenished the supply of coloured cloth used for the banners, took some fliers, and set out travelling to all of the major cities of Sosaria.

22nd of May, Evening

Led by: Jack Sinist, Regular Guardsman
Attended by: Zoie Hayden, Watchman

While admiring Sir Hoagie's steed, and wondering if I'd be able to lead a patrol or something before the night was finished, Guardsman Jack popped up seemingly from nowhere. He ordered my parade arm out, shouted something about my getting him promoted, and off we went.

We entered the town of Cove and started making the rounds when all of a sudden we saw a Giant! It looked like a giant orc wearing armour and before we could close our gaping jaws, it murdered someone! So immediately Jack shouted to charge the beast, but before we had a chance, the Giant shrunk and morphed into an armoured human. It then walked off as if nothing had happened.

We were agast to say the least, but continued with our rounds and saw nothing else of significance.

Another thing of note: As I was preparing this report in the Barracks, I felt an object brush my leg, and found that it was a bag left on the ground. I picked i up and searched through it and found a note amongst the food and alcohol.

I read the note, and it was addressed to me! It was a thank you to Jack and I from a person called Zli. Apparantly they appreciated that we were willing to fight the Giant in Cove to save them, even if we were too late. They must be the person who we saw killed when we entered Cove!

Gathering mission

Ordered by: Mela Arkay
Done by: Junior Guardsman Tyrael Styx
               Watchman Zoie Hayden

At the same time that Jakob and Sir Hoagie were playing shepherd, Junior Tyrael and myself were ordered by Mela to collect as many feathers as we could carry. So naturally we headed to Covetous where thousands of harpies nest. The oversized chickens were, of course, no match for us and we must have killed 50 of them in order to fill our packs with feathers.

We even spotted and slew a few harpies that were made of stone! They were a little bit more challenging on account of their hard skin, but still no problem for us. We managed to deliver back to the barracks a substantial stack of feathers to go along with everything else that was collected that evening.

Hmm, I'll let my sister Luna know about this and see what she has to say. She has been an accomplished lumberjack for many years and I'll bet she'll know of such a man.

18th of May, Late night patrol

Led By:

-Hoagie, Dragoon Sergeant

Attended By:
-Zoie Hayden, Guardsman Recruit
-Gabriel Drachen, Guardsman Recruit
-Faden Wildheart, Watchman (Joined late)

With rumours of a supposed ghost still circulating around Cove, Sir Hoagie gathered us night owls up to put an end to it once and for all. We were to make a patrol around the township making sure to visit the "hotspots" including the lighthouse, docks, and bank.

We made our way around the township searching for any clues, but we found none save a beautiful white horse who had gotten trapped in the lighthouse. Sir Hoagie declared that it was now the lighthouse operator's problem, and we moved on to the bank and met up with Faden. With one last, quick, uneventful look around the town, Sir Hoagie called it a night and we were dismissed.

Yes, it's good that we're back. I'd definitely suggest the Admins/officers to back up all the posts and all the rules/info on the front page in case it happens again and we can't get them back...
150  In Character Boards / In Character Board / [Report] Spooky Sentry on: May 18, 2007, 10:10:34 pm
16th of May, Evening

Led By:
-Tyrael Styx, Watchman

Attended By:
-Hoagie, Dragoon Sergeant
-Flina Trix, Junior Dragoon
-Jack Sinist, Regular Guardsman
-Perrin Stonespear, Watchman
-Faden Wildheart, Watchman
-Zoie Hayden, Guardsman Recruit

After a spooky patrol of Cove where many who attended swore they saw a ghost, Watchman Tyrael decided it'd be best to set up a Sentry in front of The Barracks in case anything, normal or paranormal, followed us home.
Much to our disappointment, it was a very uneventful sentry. We spent all evening keeping an eye on everything and ended up with nothing special to report. That is, nothing special save for a few things that can't be explained very easily..

Throughout the evening, hides and crates kept falling down on their own and sometimes objects would appear where before there was only empty grass, then would vanish again! Some were sure the ghost had followed us home, but we know better....Don't we?
