Due to size constraints imposed by the geography of the Bay of Cove and threats possible from enemy or pirate factions, it is hereby declared unlawful for any UNAUTHORISED galleon to enter the area delineated below.


Merchant ships may transfer their goods to smaller vessels before navigating into the bay itself, or may request authorisation to navigate their galleon into the delineated area from the Covian Council.

Any ship unlawfully present in the protected area will be addressed, and given a reasonable amount of time (at the present commanding guardsman's discretion) to remove their ship from the area. This will be followed by a warning shot, followed by full bombardment from the Covian fleet and coastal batteries.

This notice constitutes fair warning, as any merchant or sailor should familiarise themselves with the laws and customs of any port they sail to. The Baronship Council takes no responsibility for goods damaged or lost.

The Covian Mariner's Guild is now hiring!

We need experienced workers in a number of areas to ensure the smooth running of operations.

Blacksmiths
Casting cannons, bracings, attachments, cannon balls, etc.
Tailors
Production of sails and ropes.
Carpenters
Crafting and repair of hulls and sails.
Cartographers
Charting and navigating the seas and foreign lands
Fishermen
Food gathering and general seafaring expertise.
Strong men
The loading and unloading of ships.

If you have any of these skills, or anything else you think you can provide then don't hesitate to get in touch at the Guild's Head Office.

Fish Required

For so long I've been selling land based food! I need to branch out and reach a new market! Anyone who provides me with a shipment of good fish will be paid a fair price for them. Get me those fish, and you'll be rewarded in shillings!

"D'ese dem arse'o' won' pay mo' dan ten shil' fo' me Avatarr fersaken radishes. Ah 'ear dere be a sea market out t'da east wi' all koinds o' boats an' tha'. Sail out dere an' foind out where et is, an' ask 'em if dey want t'buy any o' me radishes. Oi'll make et worth da trouble!"

The old man shakes a radish at you as a vague guesture of reward.

The following sheet details the rules of the Covian Mariner's Guild.

  • The Seafaring Act is the stone upon which the guild relies and any person breaking these laws may face expulsion from the guild as well as any other legal proceedings brought upon them by the military.
  • Merchant organisations must register with the guild.
  • The hierarchy on board a ship must be followed at all times. Mutinous behaviour may be reported by your Captain and end up on your guild record, making it difficult for you to find employment.
  • Boat owners must register with the guild. Crew members are encouraged, but not obliged.
  • Boat owners must permit lawful searches of their ship and cargo.

Contracts may be submitted by anyone, and are divided into three categories:

Open: Any registered boat owner may assemble a crew and fulfil this contract.
Ongoing: This is the same as an open contract and by its nature must be met regularly.
Private: This contract is of high importance and is restricted to registered merchants.

Hi all,

The Covian Mariner's guild is something we hope will cook up interest in the seafaring aspects of Cove and UO, especially now that there is improved sea travel and sea based content. There is a lot that can be done with it, and it hasn't been planned out 100%, so please post any comments or suggestions here.
