For Vince Valentine and Kelly

Rumor has been spinning around about these two love birds.. Everyone
has heard of their relationship and watched in awe of the love they share.
As a suprise for their future plans, a few of us gathered together some
gifts. Though this seemed a simple task, it was turned into a bit of a...
challenge! There were two teams, and each got 200 gold pieces to spend on
what ever they could find for the couple.. in Nujelm! Jo and Hoags found them
a lovely little "love shack", as Mikaela playfully named it, and Gord decided on
a bard to play music over a lovely dinner Mika had arranged in the Nujelm Garden.
Both teams put in as much thought and creativity as anyone could. Mela was
taken aback at how well thought out everything was and so amazed at how
excellent both gifts were that everyone won!

A Journey To Find The Perfect Pumpkin!

Early this morning I set out to the fields of Skara Brae to gather more cotton.
As I just reached the edge of the first large dirt patch, I stumbled a bit,
tripping over a large object. While I was brushing my skirt back down my
eyes met a large bulbous orange ...thing. I knelt down to observe the object
a bit closer and was suddenly taken a back, "Is this a pumpkin?!", I thought
to myself, having never seen one before. "Goodness, this is rather heavy..
*attempts to pick it up.. stumbles back a bit trying to gain her footing and
balance with this large heavy pumpkin in her hands..* erg! Didn't expect
you to weigh so much! Heavy little thing you are!"
I made the long walk back to my home and placed it down into the yard. After
finding a good spot to place it, I ventured back in search for more. It was almost
as if they magically appeared the moment I turned my back, when I returned
several more had appeared! "*Smiles happily* I think I'll make a lovely garden
with the lot of you!", I said aloud to the pumpkins as if they were able to
understand me.

After a long mornings work and tending to the garden I finally finished it!

On the 18th of October 2006 at 1830, Valiro led a training session. Unlike
other trainings I've attended, we all practiced our paired dueling on the
docks of Cove! Prior to the lesson we were all issued books written by
Val "to handle the law", this book was the Guardsman's Handbook.
After skimming and reading the book, we all prepared for our next lesson.

We were instructed to form in pairs as such:

Flina and Mika       Team: Covians
Val and Dessy

Vs.

Vince and Ave        Team: Yewish
Marie and Hoags

Each pair was to heal each other whilst attacking the opposing team.
The attack began and ended on the docks of Cove, the Covians of course
won. *Grin* This lesson and exercise was efficient for learning better
ways to use cross healing while in combat.

[Through the desert of Altmere..]

Through the desert of Altmere..

Conan led us up the road outside of Cove and into the hot desert sun. On the
17th of October, 2006 around 2240 we had set out in search of new land for
the Baron. We ran to the desert of Altmere and killed all beasts in our path.
Before setting forth to find the piece of land we would claim for the Baron,
we unarmed ourselves and took our heavy armor off so that we could move
more easily while chopping wood. We gathered several hundred logs and
made many crates.
Conan then discovered an excellent little island for the Baron, as well with
the shrine of compassion attached to it. This island almost seemed as if
it were a mirage of beauty! While the others began building the fort around
the islands only entrance I had gone off to collect hides to stack on the crates...
After we finished constructing the protective barrier, we gathered all the gold
from the slain monsters and split it between the lot of us.

Before I begin, I must say this was one of the most exciting, and long, parade
drills I have been on yet! I believe Kelly was explaining that this was her
first time leading a parade drill, and she seemed surprised that we were
so obedient! *Giggles*

We began at 1600 on the 16 of October 2006. The entire drill lasted about
an hour. First we started off with some basics; turning, sounding off, trackers
line, etc. These were all easy commands, even for the recruit. If we didn't know
or understand the command, we learned it and we able to reinforce our
knowledge and basic understanding of it.

Shortly after, we practiced dueling in teams. Our goal was to attack the opposing
team while cross healing our own team. After a few rounds of this,
we all wanted to try dueling with no rules. This pretty much resulted in
a rather large session of people being knocked out. *Grins* We all had
loads of fun during that part.

Training on the rooftop with a Dragoon.

Roun' 0100 on the 16 of October 2006, Flina and myself were called to the
barracks rooftop for some training with Vincent Redfield. At first he took Flina
behind the gates and practiced with her. He quizzed her on the 3 principles of the
Dragoons, and then replied with an easy way to remember; Shield, Arcanics, and
ability. After that he began dueling with her, teaching her some methods of
healing whilst on the battlefield and such. i anxiously awaited my turn..
We then were paired together, we were both told how to properly use
arcanics when healing each other on the field. He explained that while
one is fighting, the other should have the spell ready to go to heal the person
when they run into the other for help healing. Then he explained that should
we be near death, and our partner is healed, not to hesitate using the heal
on ourselves. We then practiced this technique for a bit. Slowly Vincent called in
for more Dragoons to help train our healing skill. Three Dragoons now faced Flina
and I, we handled this as best we could. The other two Dragoons were armed
with only a sword to help ease the difficulty.

Our training session was then brought to an end. We were reassured that
though we did well, once we were trained more we would do much better!
Flina and I grinned at each other, anticipating the next round..
