Guardsman Boards / Completed Guardsman Duties / Re: Junior Duty ~ Recruitment Supplies

As I was checking all was in form within the Barracks this afternoon, I discovered the leaflets in the recruitment bag only contained the one book. I set to work and created fourty more pamphlets, which took quite a long time to scribe, for guardsmen to use at their own discretion.
Not unlike Junior Drachen, I do not know how else to describe what I did in this duty.

Ability to Fight
Leading Guardsman: Arel Mortan, Junior Guardsman
Attending Guardsmen: Kas Valentine, Senior Arcanist Darek Milako II, Regular Grenadier Thomas Aylmer, Junior Guardsman Bersi, Watchman
Darek Mhilako also helped me with this task; he was the Grenadier we took along as assistance to blow the caves up, along with all the orc's trash within. One of the excess arcanists summoned us a portal to the Valley, and we went straight in after arming up. We went straight through, taking anything down that was in our way. We wandered around a bit and found our ways into the second level of the caves. We all got swarmed a couple of times and the Scouts caught us off-guard. However, even without commands, the guardsmen were on form and healed well... All except from the Arcanists "accidentally" casting spells on the individuals non-able of magic.
I requested that Darek blew up various parts of the cave where it looked the most habited. He only had a few explosives left, but he did a really good job. We fought our way back out of the cave and we even found a potential Recruit/Covian Citizen along the way. We headed back to Cove, and we managed to collect 12,054 gold coins.
Just the oath now, Commander! I hope this is sufficient.

Discipline
Leading Guardsman: Arel Mortan, Junior Guardsman
Attending Guardsmen: Kas Valentine, Senior Arcanist Darek Milako, Regular Grenadier Thomas Aylmer, Junior Guardsman Bersi, Watchman
After spending quite a while attempting to wake a Grenadier and some lazy guardsmen from bed, we set out to the caverns of Ice for some cold action! It seemed that myself, Aylmer and Valentine had waited hours before the rest of the men gathered.
We eventually got to the dungeon, and headed in towards the rat men. The caves were absolutely freezing, and I was actually afraid to order them to take their clothes off, incase they beat me or something like it. I felt uncomfortable enough as it was, as all the guardsmen assisting me were men. I must admit it was extremely hard carrying out this task, as the complexity of it and my personal circumstances made it majorly hard for me to communicate with the men. I think I managed, though. The job was done accordingly.
We set up a small outpost for a few minutes where the ratmen were slain, so they would not make a re-appearance too quickly. After this, I led the men outside to the Lost Lands, where Junior Aylmer chopped the wood we needed for the bigger outpost we were about to construct. I encouraged the men to run about and keep building so that they could keep warm. I never imagined that men could be so whiney whilst working. Whilst I appreciate their efforts to assist me, they did not shut up for a moment! Especially that Valentine bloke. To further keep the men warm, we set up numerous fires and did exercises whilst they were not clad with armour. I led them to a passage way where they could run around some more on the only visable track of soil around. Three of the men (excluding Milako) got confused, and I had to retrieve them from the dead-end passage. They seemed to think I was sending them to a specific location, rather than to the end to turn back and run back down. Bantering aside, all the guardsmen were very "well-behaved". I hope this task has been sufficient, Commander.

Interviewee Number 3: Raiden Morana, Commander.
My final interview took place with yourself. As you are aware of all the content of the interview, I shall just place my sketches of this interview below as evidence of this taking place.
So throughout these interviews, I learnt a fair few things:
1) I shall be working with far too many men for me to tolerate.
2) Who I should look up to within the squad.
3) That I need a good attitude and commitment towards my job.
4) That the best advantage of being a Grenadier is being taught by the best to be the best.

Interviewee Number 2: Darek Milako II, Regular Grenadier.
My second interview was with Darek Milako, a Regular Grenadier. After recieving his note attached to my Trials, I decided to pay him a visit. I found Mr. Milako in the Green Goblin, and I proceeded with my questions. It appears he has a brother called Gregory, and like Marcus, also has a grudge against his father of some sorts. His inspiration was Erik Arkay in his Recruit days, and he aspired to be a well-respected Grenadier like him. My additional question was if he had any advice for me as an aspiring Grenadier. He replied that being a Grenadier was not a walk in the park; it is a serious commitment which I must hold myself to dearly. He stated that my attitude would be crucial to maintaining my bronze arms.
I wish to take this opportunity to thank Darek Milako for his assistance in this task.

BrotherhoodInterviewee Number 1: Marcus Tel'var, Junior Grenadier. This is my first report since my arrival back in Cove today. It is a pleasure to be writing and serving for you under your wing once again, Commander. A long time ago, you requested that I interview three Grenadiers as one of my trial tasks to become a Grenadier myself. Marcus Tel'var was my first interviewee.
I asked Marcus about his family, to which he replied he has acquired himself a wife as of late: Mrs Kelly (A surname was never given, and I did not wish to pry). She used to work in the Green Goblin, but now works in the Covian Bakery. An outlined dislike and distaste for his father, Demarian Tel'var, was expressed within this specific question, also. These were the only two family members he mentioned, however. My second question was about his place of birth. He informed me that he grew up in Britain, and his career in the Covian Army was first inspired by a leaflet that had been placed around the area he lived. At this time, he was serving for a different Guard, presumably around Britain. His reasoning for aspiring towards being a Grenadier was apparently to exceed his father's abilities and service, as he portrayed himself to percieve his father's service in the Army rather disgraceful in comparison to his own. The name Demarian does seem familiar to me, but I do not believe I know him in person as such. My additional question that was -not- within the specification was "Who do you consider the best role-model as a Grenadier, and which the worst?" He responded that you are the best role-model as a Grenadier (which admittedly was expected), and that his father was the worst. This also did not bear much suprise to me.
I thanked Marcus for his time, and it was an absolute pleasure to meet him.

Loyalty
As soon as I saw my Trials had been written, I set out to work straight away.
To begin my trials, I began with the rather lengthy recruitment run. Thirty Banners were to be placed all around Dungeons, Ilshenar Shrines, Shops and finally Markets.
First came the following ten dungeons:
And then came the Shrines of Ilshenar:
And finally, the miscellaneous markets, shops, inns and banks:
So, Captain Morana. Thirty banners! In all the desired locations! Another Covian's hard day's work, I'd say.

Task One Ploughing through Coveteous Led by: Arel Mortan
Attending Guardsmen: Hoagie, Dragoon Sergeant Beregoth, Guardsman Recruit Justice, Guardsman Recruit Jon Trent, Watchman As you can see here, the guardsmen (and woman) lined up outside the barracks on my specially made Covian Banner. They were handed my trusty Militarty Signing Manuals, which they were to abide by during the hunt. We went through the particular things that were required of them and the simple orders. Forming up, Readying arms, Easing themselves, Arming Up, Targetting and Charging etc.
We then acquired a portal from Recruit Justice, who took us to Coveteous. I then tried out the basic commands from the book in combat. We slayed different kinds of beasts, gathering a considerable amount of gold from them. We all ended up getting stuck in various traps around the place, and Justice kept getting her feet stuck in the mud. Same went for the Civilian who also joined us with her wolf.
A considerable amount of gold was collected in this task, which I shall discuss with you as soon as I set my quill down.
The guardsmen were taught how to follow lead with someone who has impaired abilities such as myself, and they did so rather effectively. I hope those books come in use in the near future. Just as an aside note, we appear to have a slight Orc problem arising. A few appeared as westepped back through the portal to Cove, and they managed to beat most of us down. Perhaps they need a bit of a seeing to, Sir?
I hope this report is acceptable for the Cap, Cap'n!

Task Three - Security For my third task, I was requested to lead two patrols and a sentry, in a specific order. The order was that I was to patrol the graveyard, then produce a sentry outside Cove gates. After these measures of security, to prove myself worthy of the Covian Cap, I was requested to travel to the Orc Fort and clear the beasts out.
Here are my sketches to show the process and procedures that were taken, which took over an hour. They show the patrol of the graveyard, followed by a sentry, and then finally another patrol, but to the Orc Fort. The guardsmen in attendance were as follows:
Arel Mortan, Watchwoman (Leading) Hoagie Grayner, Dragoon Sergeant Graem Carcer, Drill Instructor Thomas Scarr, Watchman
On these taks, over seven thousand coins were collected and dispersed accordingly. I tried my best to conduct the guardsmen with their actions, but obviously found certain sections a little tasking. During the sentry, we all entertained each other with some not-so-pleasant jokes, which I assume can be classed as "entertainment" during the sentry, as you asked for. We had cut the logs and gathered the hides ourselves. Our sentry was quite small, but big enough for such a small amount of people to man.
We only fell once - This was when a big lich decided to blast us all off-guard. Both the Sergeant and the Instructor were a great help during these tasks, and were exceedingly patient with me.
I hope this report of Task Two is feasable, Captain Morana. *Signed Neatly* Arel Mortan, Watchwoman[OOC: Sorry that the pictures have been made smaller. They were being terrible for uploading. I think they're just about readable, though. I took too many. Got carried away. /OOC]

So, my Trials began with "Task 2: Recruitment", and here is what I did, Captain.I first laid my twenty banners throughout our lands. Here are the sketches of the longest run of banners I have ever done: ...And then I laid banners throughout some far off lands... My own recruitment leaflet was written to improve the standards of my work and my report. Here are some sketches of my banners and the books to go with it: ...And then some MORE far off lands, which were too quiet to even think. I doubt we'll get many recruits from there, Sir. Or maybe they were just asleep at that hour? ...And then a nice hot mug of tea was in order from the Green Goblin. My banners hopefully attracted some attention from potential recruits. I have done my best. I hope this is sufficient, Captain Morana, Sir. I tried my best, and a sketch of each banner I placed has been verified.*Signed Neatly* Arel Mortan, Watchwoman

Hunt to the Harpy's nest - IlshenarLed by: Alfred, Guardsman Recruit
Attending Guardsmen: Arel Mortan, Watchman Bardicous, Guardsman Recruit Sieyes, Guardsman Recruit Garand, Junior Scout Jon Trent, Guardsman Recruit
We were all gathered in the barracks after a rather brutal training led by an Officer Cadet. Alfred stood up, which made us all look up, too. He rummaged throuh his bag in search for arrows. He was soon to discover, so it seemed, that he had none.
"I need feathers!" he exclaimed. Quicker than we knew it, we were all lined up outside the Barracks with our helmets on and our weapons drawn. Alfred had never lead a hunt before, but he shouted our orders loud enough so even I could hear them! We darted off to the moongate and made our way through to Sacrifice in Ilshenar. We all travelled north-east until we hit the pixies and then the wall soon afterwards. We walked along the wall, trying to stick together, until we gathered around the Harpy's Nest.
We all ran in and started slashing at the big beast-like birds! Blood splattered everywhere. In our hair, on our armour, on the floor... We skinned the birds and plucked the feathers from them, stepping on, over and around corpses of the birds as we did so.
After our round of bird-bashing, Alfred called the motion to get out of the nest before we were followed. We gathered our gold and feathers and made our ways out. Soon after, we gathered at the moongate and headed back to the Barracks. Alfred gathered us all together at the barracks for a feather count, and then he dismissed us accordingly.
Well done to Alfred for a well-lead hunt!
