The Struggle For Vesper

The rebels had been plaguing the Loyalists forces in Vesper for weeks now. Already signs of fatigue were visible on their guards while the resolve of the Northerners grew by the day. More and more fighters rallied to their cause, determined to rid these oppressors from their homelands. The time has come to strike! To shed the shroud of secrecy and launch an open campaign to Free the merchant town of Vesper. It is there that the hammerstroke will fall, it is there that the future of the North shall be decided! Will it remain firmly in the hands of the Loyalists? Or will the Northerners reclaim it? The following weeks shall decide....

<OOC Information>

This campaign will be fought over a number of strongholds. Strongholds the freedomfighters must capture to be victorious, and strongholds the Loyalists must capture to hold Vesper and advance on Cove.

Banners are Freedomfighters, Shields are Loyalists

* The first battle shall take place at the Island with the Bank.
* The Loyalists must maintain a presence of at least two (non-stealthing) Loyalists for the duration of 30 minutes after the start of hostilities.
* If they do so, they repelled the assault and after a 15 minute period to recompose themselves, another Freedomfighter assault may be launched.
* Should the Loyalists be unable to ward off the first assault, the Freedomfighters may advance to their second target: The Island with the Provisioner/Warrior Guild.
* The first battle shall take place this Sunday at 8:30PM GMT

The Freedomfighters had returned victorious from their first open assault on the Loyalists. The victory had been swift and decisive, but we should be well aware that the element of surprise was on our side. The Northern Rebellion has been blown wide open and due to the valiant last stands of the first two Island Loyalist Garrisons the others have had time to be strengthened. With the docks still firmly in Loyalist hands I have no doubt they are shipping in reinforcements from all corners.

The center islands are crucial. They are easily defendable and as long as they are held it is suicide to advance on the Docks. I fear many more men fighting for Freedom will come to their end before we'll be able to uproot them from those locations..

<OOC> Information

Torch and Axe are Freedomfighter held strongholds. Shields are Loyalist.

* This sunday at 8:30 GMT, the Freedomfighters of the North will gather once more at the Swaggers.

* First Battle: We shall attempt to dislodge the Loyalist Garrison stationed on the Carpenter Island. If they are able to secure the Island for more then 30 minutes they will have repelled the attack.

* Second Battle if the Loyalists win the first one: The Loyalists, catching the Rebels weakened will launch a sortie 15 minutes after the first battle ends. They will launch an attack on the Provisioner Island and once again, the Freedomfighters will need to hold it for 30 minutes to repel the attack.

* Second Battle if the Freedomfighters win the first one: The Freedomfighters will press on towards the Healer Island. Same rules apply.

* Balancing measures will be taken if one side greatly outnumbers the others (Reserve troops will be kept back)

* When defending an island you can use all buildings, structures and bridges directly attached to the Island.

* To avoid disruptions I would ask wounded of all sides to either stay as a ghost or regroup to the second Battlelocation instead of 'observing' the battle.

* To avoid communication errors all communications will happen between Erik Arkay and Klion or their designated replacement. They will then communicate to their side.

Much blood was spilled over the last days, no ground was gained but the Freedomfighters remain in the initiative. It is now time to press on! Once more into the breach, dear friends! For the North! For Vesper! FOR FREEDOM!

<OOC>

No ground was won at the last stage. So we'll pick off at the exact same spot. Same rules apply with the addition that no trapped boxes of any kind shall be used!

The next series of battles shall take place this sunday at 8:45PM SHARP!

For Freedomfighter GM's

Please distribute the following guidelines clearly and in advance to your members to avoid confusion and stress on the evening itself:

* Rally at the Covian Barracks around 8:15 (we should be ready to engage by 8:30-8:45)
* Have your members form a party if you like but your leader is asked to join the 'Leader-party'. He or She can then relay organisational matters through guildchat
* Inform people there are two battles so don't run anywhere if you die early!
* Wounded from both battles are asked to rally in this spot to avoid confusion and make the transition to the next phase rapid:

The main Loyalist stronghold in Vesper had been annihilated. The relentless attacks of the Freedomfighters had proven disastrous and the Loyalists were now fighting for their lives in Vesper. This final push should rid the last pockets of resistance in the Town. Despite the recent victories, a new threat loomed up for the Freedomfighters of the North. The Loyalists had been striking the Altmere and Covian borders quite frequently over the past days. Could it be that the fighting over Vesper is only a manoeuvre to buy the Loyalists time? Time to prepare their final and crushing blow on the North? Could it be that the Freedomfighters are walking into a trap, or is the liberation of Vesper at hand?

<OOC>

The next two battles take place this sunday at 8:45, SHARP! The Freedomfighters will launch an attack on the Fisher/Butcher Island first (see map). If the Loyalists are successful they may attack an Island of their choice. Should the Freedomfighters win, they shall advance upon the Vesper Docks.
