The Pilgrimage to Compassion

Led By: Grenadier Captain: Raiden Morana

Attended By:

Sergeant: Hoagie Greynor
Junior: Marcus Tel'var
Watchman: Forums
Watchman: Takeamada
Recruit: Noxarian
Commoner: C'lil Dynbight

After we all gathered at the Barracks and lined up, the Captain begain to tell up about some travelers that were attacked by some savages there in Compassion and that we were to go forth and make sure that it is safe for travel by all the desires to go there.

He then called forth Watchman Forums to open one of her magic portals to one of the public portals as so we can travel there. Stepping through the magic portal and then through the public portal we found ourselves in the land of Compassion in Illshenar.

We then lined up and the Captain had informed us that we will be joined by the Commoner Miss C'lil and that we were to keep her safe from harm. We then headed out to go find these savages and teach them a lesson that they will soon nay forget this time. Along the way we came up on a Gypsy camp and the Captain had told us to check it out. So far all that we checked out was in order and nothing amist could be seen. As we then turned to head out we were met by Sergeant Hoagie who then joined in our quest to teach the savages a thing or two.

We then headed out to make our way to the Savages when we found the portal in te mountain and entered it to be met by a savage guarding it from any outsiders. He greated us all and we inreturn greated him with Death, Coveian style and Grenadier Swagger.

After schooling him in the Coveian manner we then headed towards his village to see who all we could then school in the same manner as him. The trail that lead there was not hard to find as it was well traveled and mark well. We could see the gates now and they were opened with no guards attending or they were changing shifts, eather way their mistake as we approached.

As we entered the village we were then seen and they rushed over as we made ready for battle, they then attacked and fell so quickly that is was almost pathetic. They were supose to be fearce warriors, but they only fell after a few swings of our weapons.

The deeper we went the more that came to us and the more fearce the Battle got. They came at us from all dirrections and even had their Shammans try to stop us.

We faught battle after battle and the more that came the faster we had to fight and the more thay fell the better we felt. The captain soon called out for us to make our way back to the entrance, and we then headed for it knocking all the tried to stop us. At the entrance we were then ordered to make our return to our on home. Now leaving wasn't that bad as they did finally stop to tend to their wounded and left us be. We then made our way back to the public gate where the Captain then had us line up to take a head count and to ask Miss C'lil if she was okay.

After the head count we then were told to return to the Minoc public portal where we then were told to force march back to the Barracks. After the long battle we had with the Savages I was too tired for the long run so I took me a short cut back to the Barracks where I was soon to be met by the Captain. Was nay long before the rest has caught up with us at the Barracks and the Captain had ordered us to drop any loot collected from these savages.

The Captain the started handing out our cuts from the loot. Takeamada and I had told him to put our share in the Coffer as forth to our Promotional requirements. Our shares totaled 1500 coins each.

We were then dissmissed into Sergeant Hoagies hands.

The Pilgrimage To Honesty.

Led by:

Raiden, Grenadier Captain.

Attended by:

Hoagie, Sergeant
Marcus Tel'var, Junior Guardsman
Justice, Watchman (joined part way through)
Some bunny chap dressed as a Jester who tagged along with Hoagie.

*Note for Army Administration: Watchman Justice and Junior Guardsman Tel'var both donated 1,500 coins to the coffers as part of their promotional requirements.

This eve we set forth to cleanse the shrine of Honesty in the lands of Ilshenar. Our numbers were fewer than the previous night's expedition to the shrine of Compassion, but I'd take four Covians and some fella dressed like a jester over any army in Sosaria... *shifty eyes*

As we stepped through the portal into Ilshenar we were immediately set upon by gazers, imps and mongbats. We made short work of them and secured the immediate area around the Honesty shrine, though our foe, the Jukka, who had been terrorising the Honesty region lay some way to the north.

As we approached the Jukka stronghold of Mistas they sent forth their dragoons mounted on uhmm... dragons. Again we gave them a taste of Covian steel before entering the city and clearing it street by street. Resistance was weak and it was at this point that Watchman Justice joined us, so after making a final sweep we headed through a mysterious looking passageway that led to a path through the mountains.

It brought us out in a clearing where some funny looking dragons and manhorses roamed. These strange beasts, they like I only thought existed in Yew didn't take too kindly to our presence and let loose their arrows at us so we dished out another healthy portion of Covian justice.

With this area along with the shrine and Mistas all secured we ventured up some stone steps leading into the mountainside. They led into a large chamber fit enough for a Grenadier Captain's office! However with no more evildoers to battle I signalled the withdrawal back to the shrine of Honesty and from there we made our way back home.

Another Covian victory!

This eve we set for clean the territory of sacrifice shrine. We start at the barracks and then headed to the Minoc moongate.

When we got to ilshenar we decided to kill some brigands and ratmans. As for brigands, we kill them with no problems. And we didnt killed ratmans because someone did it before us.

Our next aim was Meer settlement and there we checked some buildings, found nothing in it.

We ran to the road pass gypsy camp and reaches Spiders Cave. Inside it we have a great battle-many corpses of spiders are in a cave after our great Covian expedition.

Cleansing the Shrines: Sunday, June 1, 2008

Chaos Shrine

Commanding Officer: Raiden, Grenadier Captain
Guardsmen in attendance:
Hoagie, Sergeant
Graem Carcer, Drill Instructor
Kelly Sanderson, Sergeant
Takeamada, Watchman
Delferium, Watchman
Gwendlyn

We set out after our Sunday parade to cleanse the realm of Chaos in Ilshenar. Raiden gave us strict orders to keep the healing tight and effective. As soon as we stepped through the gate we realized why the healing was important. there was a swarm of stone creatures but with our combined force and healing were obliterated. We moved on one beast at a time to the shrine of Chaos. It was a very evil place where beings came to worship the anti-virtue, chaos. Raiden promptly destroyed the shrine completely with an explosion. It was reduced to rubble.

We weren't ready to leave yet, oh no. We made our way through the treacherous passes and finally got out of the place. Once again we saw green grass just like home. However it was short lived, we soon came to ends with an Ancient Wyrm. It was bigger than anything I've ever seen! We simply couldn't take it down so we fled as not to get ourselves all killed.

We then made our way through a gypsy settlement and made it back to the gate. We went through and headed home. Back at Cove we each received 3000 pieces of gold. A fraction of the overall loot. It was another victory for Cove!

Hopefully the Church will look favourably on this adventure!

Children,

This eve', the following hath ventured to the forgotten jail-blocks of Wrong in Yew, to cleanse the Shrine of Justice, as the recent Guardian spawn infestation that hath slaughtered the shackled inmates is truly a result of the grave injustice practiced in recent years in Yew; no less by the Guardsmen Militia of Yew:

  • Father Siegfried
  • Sergeant Sanderson
  • Sergeant Grayner
  • Guardsman Trent
  • Recruit Kione
  • Citizen Aralle

The ogres, trolls, lizardmen and depraved executioners under the curse of Wytches hath been vanquished in His name, and Wrong is once again the rightful place for criminals and heretics. 10,000 coins were retrieved for the Church and Army.

Attended by:

Raiden, Grenadier Captain (leading)
Hoagie, Sergeant
Kelly, Sergeant
Marcus Tel'var, Junior Grenadier
Takeamada, Junior Guardsman
Marcus Kobra, Watchman
Father Siegfried, Templar Seneschal

I took over the lineup from Sergeant Sanderson's clean up operation in the town and declared that we would continue our combat pilgrimage to the lands of Ilshenar to cleanse one of the shrines there making it safe for travellers. This of course pleased the Templar and once armed and ready we set out on a forced march to the Minoc portal.

Of the shrines we had yet to cleanse I chose that of Valour and challenged the warriors present to put it's name to the test. Upon our arrival at the shrine we met only light resistance in the way of floatin' eyes and other mindless beasts. We ventured through the woodland until we entered a clearing through which ran a rough highway.

Being unfamiliar with the area *shifty eyes* i decided our expedition would take a left and head northwards along the road... Next time I'll take a right... *coughs* It wasn't long before we found the remains of fallen travellers and pilgrims along the road and we knew our task would soon be at hand. We entered a narrow mountain pass that led to a huge fortress.

To the Churchies *Ahem* Father's delight the fortress was swarming with undead and Guardian spawn and we quickly engaged them in fierce combat as we forced our way inside and ever deeper into the lair. We battled swarms of liches, rotting corpses, dread spiders and their golden cousins plus many more nasties as we cut a path deep inside the fortress.

The action was frantic at times but with good healing and my target calling heeded well we managed to beat down our foes and make it up to the next floor of the fortress where immediately we were faced with more of the same. We managed to secure a foothold on this floor and Junior Grenadier Tel'var and myself engulfed the rest of the level in flames as we hurled forth our fire bombs.

We then retraced our route back out of the Avatar forsaken place only to find the undead had regrouped behind us. The fighting was even more fierce as we battled out of the place than when we had battled in and eventually, even though we were within sight of the fortress entrance and sanctuary we were overwhelmed by all manner of beasts and a huge golden spider in particular! *spits*

In true Covian style we regrouped and counterattacked several times to reclaim the ground and kit that had been lost before making a tactical withdrawal back to the road and then back to Cove to share out the loot. Each guardsman was given 5,000 coins for their valiant efforts with over 8,000 coins donated to the Church to feed orphans and such.

Another Covian Victory!!!

Cleansing Honour.

Attended by:

Raiden, Grenadier Captain.
Hoagie, Sergeant.
Dalamar, Regular Scout.
Takeamada, Junior Grenadier.
Go-Hei, Watchman.

Siegfried, Templar Seneschal.
Edith, Cleric.

Maccen Korten, Commoner.

Gwen Irima Maranwe, Duchy of Trinsic.

As us Covians gathered outside the barracks we were joined by Gwen, an ally from the Duchy of Trinsic who had volunteered to help us on our mission this eve.

That mission was to continue our efforts to cleanse the shrines of Ilshenar so that travellers and pilgrims may wander freely. Tonight's destination was the shrine of Honour.

We made our way slowly but surely through the dense jungle of the region and soon stumbled upon a deserted villa infested by ratmen and wytches, with many goldies amongst their numbers.

We cleared the villa room by room until not a cheeseater nor wytch was left standing. We then headed southwards through the jungle until we came across some ruins. As i pondered whether this could have at one time been a holy building, perhaps an abbey or church Father Siegfried discovered some stone steps leading down into a cavern. I called my party to arms and we made our way down into the darkness.

An icey chill greeted us as we descended, but it was more than natural cold, it was the chill of death. We had discovered an underground prison who's poor inmates had been turned to undeath. We cut our way through the wandering skellies past cells, workshops, courtroom, mess hall and kitchen until we found the lair of the vile wytches who's dark arts had afflicted the poor souls improsined there.

We slaughtered them without a thought and a fire bomb took care of their unholy artifacts but still the evil in the place could be felt so we ventured further still. t was not long until we found the root of that evil, a room packed with demons, imps and summoned creatures of blood.

Our brave band stood fast and despatched the evil spawn before retracing their steps back out of the Avatar forsaken place.

As we stepped from the portal near Minoc we said our farewells to Gwen before heading back to barracks. We had amassed over 30,000 coins and after i had handed out everyone's pay I donated 11,000 to the Church to aid efforts in Cove to help the sick.

This evening, brave and pious Guardsmen joined me in cleansing the shrines of Justice and Humility. These men were:

Father Siegfried, Templar Preceptor
Vince Valentine, Grenadier Sergeant
Kelly Valentine, Sergeant
Kal ShadowHand, Officer Cadet
Kas Valentine, Guardsman
Takeamada, Junior Grenadier
Yenril Darkeye, Guardsman Recruit
Torrak Keres, Guardsman Recruit
Kraelyn De Luc, Guardsman Recruit

Marching the to moongate, the Arcanist as our rear guard, the brave warriors followed me through to the shrine of Justice, whereby we were assaulted by whelps and headless beasts, swiftly moving onward to the ruins of a great city, plagued by dragoons and heretics!

The soldiers claim the ruined city

Having claimed the city for our own, we ventured south to the mountain wytch caverns, protected by giants. Where the men were ordered to form boxes, swifty, and combat the waves of giants.

Surviving an onslaught

With one Recruit having prayed home, the men stormed the lower floors of these tainted caverns, and put the wytches found hiding to the sword.

Storming the mage hide-out

Finally, we surfaced and returned home, having gathered a sizeable treasure trove from the beasts, and a lute, which may well have belonged to one of our Lord Avatar's companions!

Iolo's Lute - Companion of Compassion; perhaps torchwood, rather than a relic?

Spoils of War

The gold was split as such:

Scouts: 3,500
Grenadiers: 5,000
Army: 17,985
Church: 20,000

Chyldren,

Lead by myself,
Father Siegfried, Templar Preceptor we didst venture through to Spirituality, the final shrine and received more than our fair share of lashings. The following men shouldst be held in the highest regard for this sacred mission:

Friar Dagorian
Sister Edith
Grenadier Eve Thenasa
Grenadier Falconheart
Grenadier Marcus Tel'var
Arcanist Kas Valentine
Watchman Delferium
Recruit Taybard Jaekel
Recruit Torrak Keres
Recruit Yenril Darkeye

Our mission was simple, yet dangerous; and with Avatar's guidance, and our Sister's watchful eye we didst venture into the depths of the Abyss and stand toe-to-toe against no less than ten daemonic incarnations of Guardian himself.

T'was when one of Guardian's many servants, a golden slayer appeared that things didst start to go awry. The men fought gallantly, but alas t'was too little to stand against such foul a beast.

What men survived dredged home, weary, mortally wounded, and lacking equipment. For his extreme bravery, which Captain shouldst thou read this, I implore thee to award him for his courage - Watchman Delferium hath had to be towed home atop my steed, as his wounds bled a trail all the way to the hospital where I doth believe Sister Edith tends to his wounds.

I am physically drained and canst tell thee no more than the sketches below...

The brave souls venture forth to Spirituality

Father Siegfried issues the men with their battle orders

Close to engage!

Initial engagement did not bode well, and so a strategy is formulated to lure the beasts away from their lair, and skirmish until dead

Grenadiers bombard the daemons back into the Abyss

Following the dark lord's appearance, what survivors remain hold fast at the main entrance; the final bastion of hope

Overwhelmed by undead and whelps, the survivors fall back

Battle-scarred survivors charge into the Abyss to recover what they can, whilst the Templi form a shield wall to safeguard their retreat

Having risked his life to save those of his fellow men, in luring the dark lord from the group, Watchman Delferium is escorted home on Father Siegfried's warhorse, barely conscious

Angered and bitter, Father Siegfried commands the survivors to be grateful they did not meet the same fate as those who did not return

A pitiful amount of gold is recovered

An Orcish wytch ambushes the clergy as the rest of the men are dismissed

The Templi give chase, and the Orc is slain as Father Siegfried delivers a concussive blow to the wytch

Friar Dagorian immediately sets about burning the corpse

To those who lost their lives tonight, our prays art with thee.

I doth feel a Crusade may be necessary to come about the successful cleansing of Spirituality...
